copilot too bright

    Are your hotkeys working, FN + F6 & FN + F7 I think for screen brightness up & down?

    If not, go to the Toshiba US support site & find your laptop. Next look for updates or downloads for ACPI Common Modules for Windows XP and Hotkey Utility for Windows XP.

    You may need to reinstall these two downloads if you can't get your hotkeys to work.

    /proc/acpi/video/GFX0/LCD/brightness:
    levels: 75 35 10 25 35 50 60 75 90 100

    OR

    F6 and F7 are the hot keys for bright/Dim...
    Do you have XP? if so do you have service pack 3?
    The Satellite A105-S2717 seems to belong to the Toshiba USA and therefore you should use the Toshiba US page for the driver/tool update.

    There you should choose your notebook model and should download and reinstall following drivers / applications:
    Toshiba ACPI Common Modules for Windows XP
    Toshiba Hotkey Utility for Windows XP



    If this does not help you then I suggest posting how to Dim on Toshiba's Forum...
