Yeah, a lousy 15 bucks and 200lb tarps...

I was asked to swap a load to Burbank for a copper load to OK. Sat for 14 hours in Tucson waiting on a guy that was "about an hour out." He wouldn't pull his POS tarps off and stole my good ones.

Then I got stuck in OKC for Thanksgiving...

I pulled 4 copper loads out of Morenci and none of them went to Norwich. Weird huh?

Back in the SMX days, we did not tarp any copper loads from the mines or from the processor.

FBI agent here, we're doing a little investigation on copper theft...What are 10 cities that ship the most copper in the U.S?
Your answers would help a lot. Thanks.

They don't need to have the copper word in them, but thanks anyways.
Places like Panama City, FL, Morenci, AZ, and Shelby, NC.
For the next reply, please write the city and state. Thanks again.

The top recycling cities according to the EPA are in no particular order....

    Atlanta, GA
    Los Angeles, CA
    San Francisco, CA
    Seattle, WA
    Boston, MA
    New York, NY
    Philadelphia, PA
    Chicago, IL
    Salt Lake City, UT
    Dallas, TX
    Houston, TX
    Charlotte, NC
    Columbia, SC

Since most copper comes from the construction industry you can compare it with the real estate market. Then cross reference cities with the worst crack and meth problems since they are the one's stealing it. Does the city have a recycling program in effect?

There are many rural areas that gather metals. They'll melt them down into blocks and resell them to other factories. There is a huge recycling plant near me that might gather metals from a 250 mile radius. My county population is 35,000.

I don't know if you caught it but you got your screen name backwards. It should be FBICopper! Okay that was a lame joke! :biggrin_25519:

Thnks for your info, copper was written before FBI because the copper problem is the main mission on this small department, does not mean we're FBI dedicated to catch bad guys stealing copper, just means we're on this at the moment.

What would you do if you were in my place? Would you look into statistics, or maybe ask around in a truckers community... We are looking for places where regular truckers would normally pick up copper loads, so yeah I would ask around here.

I was in LE for a good many years is why I'm asking. For all I know, you could be someone looking for answers, for the all the wrong reasons.

    Tb0n3 Thanks this.
