Cops probe trucker's death

Ed Carr thought he was going to see John Lozinger for the holidays until early Wednesday, when he received a call from state police informing him his nephew was dead.
"They told me they found him dead in the truck," Mr. Carr, 64, owner of Scranton Label Inc., Clarks Summit, said. "It was a shock."

Mr. Lozinger, 45, of Cleveland Street, Olyphant, was discovered dead late Tuesday in the cab of a tractor-trailer off Route 6, about three miles east of Tunkhannock, according to police. On Thursday, state police, which initially misidentified Mr. Lozinger as John Lizinger, announced they have a suspect in his death and that a criminal homicide investigation is under way.

"The public should not be concerned about being in danger," said State Police Cpl. Bradley Shatinsky. He would not identify the suspect or release any more information.

Mr. Carr said his family has received little information from police.

"They did say another man was involved and he had an injury," Mr. Carr said.

Mr. Carr believes his nephew was strangled because a death certificate states Mr. Lozinger died of cardiac dysrhythmia due to mechanical asphyxiation. State police would not identify the cause of the asphyxiation and would not comment on the death certificate.

"One thing is certain is that he was murdered by someone," Mr. Carr said. "One thing you can't do is choke yourself."
