I cannot swear to it, but frankly, I thought too that a spare set of glasses is required. But then, that could have been removed long ago. I too tried looking it up.

I stand corrected. Talked to our compliance officer. If you require corrective lenses, and do not have them, or a back up pair with you, you will be cited and put out of service. You, not the truck. A good idea to have a spare set I think.

I know that if you have contacts you are REQUIRED to have a set of glasses with in arms reach when you driving a CMV

And the hell of it is, we're a bunch of truck drivers being asked for advice. Truck drivers can't agree on what day of week it is currently. You'd have better luck and get a better more coherent reply asking a fence post.

So just like if you are driving your personal car and get pulled over. If not wearing contacts or glasses (both are corrective lenses) it's a ticket and I can see that.

Not to be a jack ### but where does in say that in the green book?

Yes I can see having either more contacts or second pair of glasses when out on the road. Heck when I went on vacation I took a second pair so if something happened I could still see.

Just to be on the safe side, have 2 pairs of eyeglasses: 1) the one pair that you are wearing, 2) an extra pair of eyeglasses in case the one pair that you are wearing is either lost or broken.

    upnorthwpg Thanks this.
