Wasn't your first sentence I was questioning, PAL!!!!!!
If you don't have your glasses on, just tell them you wear contacts, they probably won't question it...
So if I'm driving with no medical card, and I tell them I have one, they won't question that either????? I think not PAL.....
P.S........I think I read and comprehend what I read very well, graduated Valedictorian of my class...Last edited: Jun 30, 2015
flood Thanks this. -
So my question is. You are allowed to wear contact lenses and I'm sure just keep a spare pair of glasses if anything was to happen to them?

For the overall rule, let's apply some common sense and KISS: If you need glasses to pass the little eye exam in a black box on the counter of the DMV, your license is RESTRICTED. You must wear some form of corrective lenses in order to drive anything legally. Even a car. Even a motorcycle. You can be ticketed or put out of service if you are caught not wearing them, because you are breaking the conditions of your license without them. You won't be pulled over for not wearing them - how the heck is the LEO gonna know you wear glasses?- But if you're pulled over for something else and they ask to see your license... well, you get the picture.
I carry 2 pairs of clears and 1 pair of suns. -
This is an interesting topic to me. Before my recent Cataract surgery I had 20/25 vision my right eye and 20/120 in my left, both corrected with glasses and contacts. The Eye doc that did my Cataract used a new lens that's corrected my left eye to 20/20. I still have a vision correction requirement on my Virginia CDL but no longer need it. I don't need glasses but when I drive I keep my glasses in my pocket just in case.

Ok so contacts are fine. But keep glasses and sun glasses as well. Thanks!

This is a bit off topic, but related.
Years ago I had to wear glasses to drive legally, but I only really needed them at night. My daytime vision was better.
My blood pressure had also been rising over the years. For the first couple years driving a truck I had done things to lower my BP just before the test and got by, barely. One year I failed, so had to get on BP meds, and so a 1 year medical card.
The funny thing is, once my blood pressure was at a better level my vision also cleared up. I no longer have the restriction on my CDL, and I no longer need glasses even at night. I do still need them for reading small text, however.
It even surprised the doctor, that my vision would improve with a lower blood pressure.miss elvee Thanks this. -
I have the same restriction.
I don't have Glasses, Contacts only.
Need to get some Glasses sometime...
I've never been questioned about it though.
I think contacts are pretty common now and clear contacts aren't that easy to see (if you're wearing them or not).
But if you have the restriction you should probably wear glasses or Contacts , it's there for a reason.
