Cost per hour

Only reason I suggested $65 is because I used to run auto freight down to NC and knew an o/o leased to STI and he made $50 so I figured the company charged around $60 to $65 ... its just a guess because its really not that much information given and a real shot in the dark, you have to take into account that what Haulhand does is probally specialized (due to the fact he metioned a winch). Misc freight is not going to pay that much and as I stated before he knows what he gets now so he should take that into account

 

Nothing "misc" about auto freight those places will pay $100+ without blinking an eye it's chump change, they don't have warehouses and for a production line to shut down would cost them 10's of thousands if not a hundred thou an hour, any o/o getting $50 an hour in that situation is getting ripped off.

 

Auto freight is the cheapest freight out there .... I did it when I first started because it was easy and dedicated. The auto plants are up this way the suppliers are down that way so I highly doubt if they are paying that kind of money...check it out if you want a good laugh I think most start out somewhere around $1.24 and goes to around $1.35 (that's all in) if anybody tells you that they make more than that pulling auto freight to the plants they are telling a story.

Are you supplying power only or trailer also?

A very open ended question, no one can give a good answer with nothing more provided. I know hourly or daily lease depends on what the local companies charge unless you run special equipment.

 

I have fixed costs which show $322.96

My variable costs for 10 hours per day/54 mph average = $488.97

For a total daily cost of $811.93

Averages out to $81.19 for a 10 hour work day.

seems low. Really low. Mine are based on similar cost for the month and for a $25,000 truck payment.

My hourly rate is almost double that.

 

You're missing employee overtime (someone calls in sick / fails to show up for work, quits without notice), and cost of a spare truck in the event of a breakdown. Did you account for HoS limitations when you determined the number of employees you'll need to hire? How about drug testing costs for employees? Increase in fuel prices? What happens when you're expected to run more than the miles that you've estimated?

You asked for advice, you get it, and now you're saying that your calculations are correct and the advice is worthless. Why did you bother asking?
