They don't do that based on what's convenient for them, drivers, or outside carriers. Transportation is a business for some, and a necessary evil for a company like Costco, so it's not a daycare for whiney drivers. They do it the way they do it to take care of customers.
You're the one commenting they should accommodate drivers on that one and most drivers don't even think about the business side. The customer is always right but with drivers it's usually all about them...
I mean.....it's just speak/suggetion. I was really making a comparison to food service. I already know folks are going to do what's in their best interest, which in this case is refusing loads for creeping. I don't really think they'll enforce that for real.
Costco in Owatonna is bad enough with the creepers, I can’t imagine what a huge place like Sumner could turn into with everyone rolling around at 5mph.
Another thing I forgot to point out is another reason why drivers might be creeping. For those of you that have ELDs,especially Qualcomm/Omnitracs-the ELD might not boot up properly! Sometimes during the startup period the ELD will not cycle properly and ends up shutting down and trying to reboot again. Sometimes it can take anywhere between 5-10 minutes, which means you’re unable to change duty status! If it does it at all- if it doesn’t,then worst case scenario then you have to do a hard reboot, which means stopping the truck, shutting it down, turning off the battery power, waiting 30 seconds to a minute for the issue to clear out, turning battery power back on, and waiting for the ELD to boot up properly. Ask me how I know about that one!
