I have a 5309 and wouldnt trade it for any other highmount. The ability to load nine is the ticket. I dont know how many eight car loads ive fit on my 5309 that would have never fit on my 8 car sun valley. Nice part about it is that you never have to load nine if you dont want to. Mine weighs 23,000 lbs and is not for beginners because the trailer axles load up quick and it will fit loads that are overweight. I used to carry a fiberglass ladder with me until Ruben at pro weld fabricated a ladder and holder for me

You know what Slant, your right! The only reason I'm still here is that I really do still look forward to coming to work everyday, and every once in a while, I still get to put the Pete to work for a couple of days, although it seems to have gotten less here lately! -
I had an older 2003 model 5309. It was a good trailer. I put some monsterous 8 car loads on it. You never could have put them on any other 8 car trailer, I don't care what kind it was, but your gonna have to dodge the scales. I was 36k+ many times on the trailer axles. Its hard to fit 9 with todays loads, all the suv's and trucks. I did fit 10 one time and got the pics to prove it. on some year models the flip up deck in the belly can be pined off in the front and you can lower the cylinder and repin it then raise it again. I had a mg midget in the front position in the belly with a chevy caviler above it and a 68 chevelle in the second position on top.
The main issue I had was rust and cracking seemed more than usual. I heard Cottrell used some china metal for a couple of years around then, but I don't know if this was true. -
Little late to the party but I gotta see these pics
