If trucks had a box springs under the mattress, instead of a hard aluminum or plastic slab, they'd be great. That's the reason for so many recommendations for topping them with foam.

I have a 4inch topper and while it is comfy, the regular mattress that comes in a Cascadia was good enough.

I only got the topper to see if it help with some aches I get when I wake up. I had the issue long before I slept in a truck and the topper didn't help any.

    Dismal. Very bleak outlook.

"Is sleeping in a truck bunk like sleeping on a couch? Is driving OTR like living in a box? What about loneliness and depression...how do you cope?"

Some people look for bad news. They thrive on negativity. They hate their lives and are powerless/afraid to change their circumstances. These type people are losers. It's the only thing they know. Do not be that way. Get 'in it to win it', no matter the circumstance.

"But Six, I was asking about a couch and a sleeper..."

I know. The couch is where you sleep when you and the old lady can't stand each other. There is no shame resting in a sleeper.

i'd recommend one of 2 things.

    1) go to a funeral home, and try out the coffins

    2) when trying out the couch, have a friend at each end, shaking it.

both will give you some idea of the (near) tightness of the bunk as well as the engine idling.

The first few times you sleep in the truck it feels natural like you just sacked out on the couch. After a short while you will be more comfortable sleeping in the truck then you will your own bed.
