This is exactly why you should avoid the big company CDL mill training programs. Get your CDL on your own either through a private school or community college. Go see trucking companies in your area and sit down in front of them and tell your story. It is much easier to explain your situation in person.
In fact, it might pay to make some visits to companies in your area prior to attending school. The recruiters from the large companies care not at all about you or your success. you are just a warm body they get paid to bring in the door, and they only want to warm bodies that don't require extra effort or work to get in.
