Rocks excellent idea. RCW, keep up the good work and Rc to hang in there. It may stay bad but if he can survive covenant, then RC can survive anything. Oh, theres a covenant truck in my back yard. Not joking.

RCW, Maverick driver here. Best OTR trucking company I've ever dealt with. They have their quirks but treat you fairly. Fleet Managers are very accessable. Good Luck with the approval. Feel free to ask anymore questions you might have. Treestand

..there is a thread under Good Trucking Companies for Maverick, here is the link if u have any questions for the drivers who drive for them now.. didn't see any real complaints there about the company per se.. Oh RCwife, did u happen to ask Mav what their idle policy was, it probably doesn't matter right now until RC actually gets hired but he might like to know in advance..

I know for a fact that there are at least three dispatchers who work Redcoat's board and I'm going to name names -- Randy, Cindy, and Dusty. Randy is his main DM and he's the one who irks RC the most. Cindy and Dusty work nights and weekends and they are the ones RC would rather deal with because, for the most part, they tend to answer his questions and communicate with him more effectively and in a civilized manner. I do remember most of his QC messages being signed, which is why I know their names. The odd message about delivering by midnight was NOT signed and there is no telling where it came from. And that would also probably explain the confusion factor of the DM as well as RC. My only point was that if RC had tried to follow what it said, he absolutely would have positioned himself in a very bad way which might have jeapordized his chances of going to Maverick. Fortunately he stood his ground and kept asking for clarification until he got the answer he needed. A brand new driver might not have done the same.

I read your post to Redcoat and he will now start doing the same thing. He can't get away with it today because he's on a reset. He's just outside of Atlanta (Pilot at exit 5 on I-20) and will be legal at 0900 Monday morning. It's supposed to be 96 here in North Carolina today so I can imagine how hot it's going to be in Georgia today. Can't idle during the day today but for sure he should start it up early this evening to cool it down just before it gets dark and maybe run it at some point during the night to get some sleep so he'll be rested by the morning.

    Radcoat's wife....
if you ever decide to publish a book, I am first on the list to buy it.
This is one of the funniest threads on this forum, and, please keep it up.

On the other hand, I think that RedCoat needs couple of cameras in the truck, specifically one pointed at the Qualcom....It would make fo a hell of a reality show

Cheers, and keep up a good work

Redcoat heard from the recruiter today. His application was approved!

    Boo-yah!

Now he has a decision to make. When to go to orientation. Let's make this interactive. Y'all can weigh in with your opinions.

    First the situation...

On August 28th, Redcoat will be eligible for an extra $500 because he goes over a year with Covenant. This Wednesday, he starts his 5-day home time in Mississippi (to get his hazmat endorsement). Covenant payroll says it will take about two weeks for him to see the $500 in his check so that will be around the 10th of September. Honestly, we don't DESPERATELY need the money but it sure would come in handy to pay for Redcoat's expenses while in transition (rental car, etc.).

The question is: When should Redcoat go to Maverick orientation?

    A. This coming Sunday the 16th. --- Blow off the $500 and QC Covenant to come get their truck which would be a mean and nasty thing to do or he could take it to Chatt. on Friday and clean it out. Then rent a car to get back to Tupelo.
    B. August 30th. --- If Redcoat gives his two-weeks notice on Saturday the 15th, that will make his last day August 28th, his one-year anniversary. Then the question would be -- Will he get his $500 or not? It would be interesting to find out. Generally, I've found Covenant payroll to be fairly respectable and trustworthy in our case.
    C. September 13th. --- Supposedly by then, Redcoat will have his $500 and he can tell them to come get the truck or take it back to Chatt. and blow off the two-weeks notice.
    D. September 27th. --- By then, Redcoat should theoretically have his money and if he gives two-weeks notice, he'll be done by this date.

    So what do y'all think? A B C or D

I read the thread. Actually, I've read pretty much everything to do with Maverick but thanks for the link anyway.

And I asked the recruiter about Maverick's idle policy and he said there wasn't one. He said they just go over with him how idling affects fuel mileage and they leave it up to the driver. I'm guessing there's probably some kind of bonus that gets paid for excellent fuel mileage. I like that idea better than the way Covenant does it. It seems Maverick uses incentives to get their drivers to be team players for the company whereas Covenant uses punishment to whip their drivers into doing what they want. Gee, I wonder which company's drivers has the better morale?

    RCW,

Tell RC not to abandon his trick as it will go on his DAC. He does not want that to happen .:biggrin_25510: Best thing to do is give his two weeks notice and clean out the truck at Chatt. Make sure he has a supervisor sign off on it. If he does not, Covenant can still screw his DAC whereas RC has proof he did turn in his truck nice and clean. :yes2557:

Congrats on him getting approved with Maverick.
