    Hey Everybody!!!

Just thought I'd give an update on how things are going.

Redcoat made it home a week ago yesterday. He's had plenty of time to recharge his mental batteries. He put in a request to find a team partner last Friday and Shannon at Covenant had a couple names for him in a matter of hours. So he called the guys up and one lives near Chattanooga and the other in Louisiana. The guy in Chatt. sounded like a better match and they have been in contact with each other a couple times this week.

We are hoping to go meet them (partner and his wife) Saturday to get to know each other. The man's wife is not feeling well today but if she feels better tomorrow, we plan to meet halfway between B-town and Chatt. to have dinner together.

Shannon emailed me today and she has a truck ready for the pair on Monday. Things are really starting to fall into place and I'm happy that the company is not dragging their feet on getting the men a truck. I just hope it is a decent ride and not something that will be living in the shop as we can't afford that.

They have been assigned a DM and I'm hoping the dude is good to work with. I plan to PM Rocks to see if she knows him to get any kind of intel on how he is. Hopefully he will have something ready for them to get on the road as I'm kind of nervous after reading all the posts of guys just sitting and sitting waiting for work.

I'll post again once they get their truck and let you know what kind of condition it's in and how they like it.

Hope most everybody had a good holiday although I see that it didn't work out for some. It reminds me of when I was in the Air Force. Birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays were never guaranteed and so I don't get upset when things don't work out for family time. I just take the days together as they come.

Happy Belated Turkey Day to all you folks! MCR, sorry to hear your truck took a crap on you. I had one that they tried to give me, when I ran it through the truck wash I got a bath! The skylight wasn't sealed right- thankfully I got 8449V shortly after, and that was a good truck. Take care and good luck!

RC Wife- glad to hear from you as well; and very happy that things are working out for RC. If his dispatcher is Spider, then good luck to them. That guy was a piece of work (I will PM you his real name- but he goes by the nickname Spider)- but he kept Scott and I moving decently. Take care and keep in touch!

    Hey everybody,

Redcoat and I drove up to Gadsden, AL yesterday to meet his new partner and the man's wife. They are very nice people and Redcoat believes they will get along just fine. We are making the drive up to Chattanooga from Birmingham early in the morning so the men can get their truck, inspect it, check all the paperwork (thanks Rocks for all the tips!), and try to get everything done so they can get to work.

Wallbanger their DM is not Spider. I will PM you and MCR the man's name to see if you know him.

So far so good. Will let you all know how it goes tomorrow night.

Maybe they can find Redcoat a truck with the steering wheel on the right side so he can feel more at home with it.:biggrin_25519:

I hope things go better, but who knows with this economy.

    Adventure in Choo-Choo land.

Wow. What a day. It started at 4 in the morning when we got up to make the trip up to Chatt. We wanted to be there by 9 and since we lose an hour we had to leave super early. We made it on time and Redcoat's new partner and his wife were already there. They were in a private meeting with the team coordinator's assistant and we weren't invited. So we decided to go ahead and get the keys for the truck and check permits, etc. etc. We went to the shop to get the truck keys. Then you have to look at a list on the wall to find out where it's parked. Redcoats truck was parked in Row T which we found out stood for "Trades." The truck was pretty clean and there was lots of tread on the tires. It only had a few minor things wrong inside but Redcoat decided that they weren't worth the time to fix if it would delay things. So we gathered up the permit book and headed back inside to get that all sorted.

By the time we got done Redcoat didn't have a partner anymore. :biggrin_25516:

I'm not going into any detail about what happened as that's a personal issue with the other guy but it had to do with him not being able to go into California due to health reasons. Nothing real major but a deal breaker as far as Covenant was concerned.

So the men got split up and Redcoat had to start over.....no truck....no partner.

We went up the road and had a long lunch just killing time waiting for the 3:00 meeting. They have the teams meeting at 3:00 now instead of 3:30. The team coordinator first dealt with the people who had tested out and wanted home time. Then she dealt with those that had already found a team partner. While she was doing that, she asked if anyone was in the room who already had a truck that needed a partner and two people raised their hands. So we waved one of them over to us and it turned out that the man is a trainer. Apparently he has a little over 3 weeks before some scheduled extended home time so they didn't want to put him with a student until that was done. So he was in there looking for a partner to team with for the next 23 days.

Which suited Redcoat fine. At least it wouldn't be a case of dumb and dumber and he'll be with someone with a lot of experience. I have a first impression of the guy but I'm not going to elaborate here until Redcoat spends a bit of time with him. But he seemed nice enough and so I'll give him the benefit of a doubt.

I got the grand tour of Covenant. It's a nice enough building but they sure do love posting all their tons and tons of rules all over the walls and doors and message boards. No pets in the building; no pets left unattended; no sodas in the freezer; no DVD players or game consoles on the TV; no truck wash without a trailer; no open grills in the smoking area; and on and on. Everywhere you look there is a rule or a reminder to do or not do something. Sign in, sign out. Go see logs. Go see permits.

We did have a few questions for the payroll department and I will say that the man who helped us was super friendly. But generally, I found that most of the admin types are pretty remote and there is a definite sense of an intentional separation between them and the drivers.

And there you have it. I think Redcoat was fortunate to find a partner so quickly after losing his other one. But he's going to be looking for another one after Christmas so if any of you reading this thread know you are going to be ready for a partner by then, keep Redcoat in mind. It would be nice to have somebody all lined up to go after the holiday -- or even through it for that matter as we're not super gung-ho on the fact that we MUST be together. At our age, Christmas isn't that big of a deal and so working through it ain't no thang.

I'll post again when I hear from Redcoat on what they've got going where.

    HEALTH reasons?! :biggrin_2552:
    YeAH, right!
    Give me a break!
    Does California have kooties?

Sounds like bovine excrement to me.
More like he has outstanding warrants in California.
And I'm curious why that wasn't mentioned prior to teaming
    with Redcoat.
What else did he have hidden in the closet? :dontknow:
