OK so Redcoat is rollin' again!!!
After sitting for almost five days in Mass. they picked up a load this morning headed for Minneapolis-St. Paul. They have 24 hours to go 1200 miles. So it's the usual -- sit, sit, sit, sit, then RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN. They did manage to get loaded a half hour early so that helps a little bit. Redcoat looked up the temps in Minnesota. Today's high is 21 and the low tonight is 4. The bad thing is he forgot his parka when he left Birmingham last week. We didn't think about it until halfway to Chatt. and we didn't want to go back to get it. <sigh>
They also have their next dispatch. From Minneapolis-St. Paul they are headed to Washington state. I told Redcoat it might be a little warmer there.
Did y'all see MCR's pics he posted from his other thread? Was that a mess or what....
Personally, I think that kudos are deserved for getting the job done. To me that looked like a heck of a challenge to get the truck docked in that place and MCR deserves an attaboy for making it happen. When a driver has skills like that, a company would do well to recognize that fact.

Latest update.
Redcoat and his partner made it to Minneapolis with their load on time. I'm not sure if they are picking up another load at the same shipper or if they had to go to a different one but last I talked to him they were sitting at the shipper waiting to get loaded. They got permission to arrive early but it didn't do any good as far as trying to get ahead as they are sitting and waiting. I think their load is for one of the package companies (possibly UPS?) and Redcoat mentioned something about Con-Way. Anyway, once they get loaded they will be heading out for Spokane.
And that's it so far. I think Redcoat is starting to get into a routine. He says he still needs a lot of practice backing as he's still not happy with his performance. He's also broke as can be having run through over $160 plus another $100 advance since leaving Chatt. on the 1st. All that sitting in Mass. got to be pretty expensive since his partner doesn't have any cooking or food storage stuff on his truck.
I have a kind of funny (well, actually it's probably pretty sad) story to tell. While we were in Chatt. waiting to see what was going to happen with the partner situation, I was talking to a man in the driver's lounge who was a trainer. Nice guy. I asked him if he was married and he hesitated so long to answer that me and the other two people there with me totally cracked up. Finally he said, yes, he was married but he only got to see his wife twice a year. The rest of the time he was on the road. I guess she does her thing and he does his. It was just so weird that he had to think about whether he considered himself married or not. -
Well I wouldn't be too happy to deliver to a place like that; however, if I got stuck it would be another story. But in the end, its better than sitting around with no miles. Good pics MCR. So, did convenant pay for the truck wash?

My hubby loads up with plenty of food and drinks everytime he gets to come home and he still spends more money out on the road than I would prefer. I think when he sits and is board he spends more. Maybe that is normal.

One other good aspect of the trainer sleeping...... I remember the way my trucking life panned out....... I got my CDL liscence and was in the cab the next day. it was a very short trip to Golub warehouse, which was about 15 minutes away from the company i worked for in Schenectady, NY. 3:30 am i was driving a truck! HAnging on for dear life, lol. (First time i had ever been alone in a truck i was nervous). Thats not such a big deal, but the second day i ever drove a truck I found myself 2 1/2 hours into a trip from Schenectady, NY to Boston, MA. Not the outskirts of Boston, but the fish piers of boston. The heart of boston! This is now the second day I EVER drove truck. I don't mean to get into a long drawn out story about my life, for i would much rather hear about you and your husband. But I tell you that story to prove a point. The 3rd day I EVER drove a Tractor Trailer was like I had been doing it for years. (Don't get me wrong... I wasnt ####y or rammy, but I learned more in that one leg shaking trip to Boston, in which i got lost, than i think in any other trip ever). After that trip, I could get through anything.
With all that rambling done, I think maybe it will be for the better that the trainer lets him go through it the hard way. Trust me, your husband will learn so much more once he is on the road than he ever will with the trainer. -
i have called them when i broke down and they were pissy pissy pissy!.....so for a wash, nah.
anyway it rained for 2 days so most of it came off, the interior floor on my side is still dirty, but that gets cleaned on the day we get time off.
i hope i don't go back there again, with wet weather and snow that place will become a pig pit........
i will continue to post pics of the more interesting places i am sent to,just
to let ya'll see what they consider "top line customers".
best wishes...
