Hey RCW, glad to hear RedCoat is still moving. Covenant used to (and still might) pull truckload (TL) freight for Conway- my co-dummy and I pulled one from Columbia,PA to Phoenix,AZ once. Since Conway bought out CFI and turned them into Conway Truckload, those loads may have decreased in number. We did have to wait for CW to finish loading the trailer- but they did have an on site scale (a single axle/tandem at a time)- so it did help get the load adjusted so it was nice and legal. My trainer and I pulled one too- my first load, from Crashville to Laredo. April in Laredo, it was 80-90 degrees and the Pilot smelled horrible (hence the name Peelot).
I know how that trainer feels- my wife and I go through the same thing too- I don't know how you women keep it together, but I have to have it to you all. Take care!

If they are top of the line for convenant, then they should at least get a paved driveway. I would like to hear safeties excuse of having to pull you out should you become stuck. How do you like the freightliner columbia?
RCW,
Is hubby in Frieghtliner condo? If so howdoes he like the space?
Hunter -
hi kinghunter, well i called safety, and emailed the pics to the dedicated mgr,no response. as long as nothing happens to the truck, then they don't want to hear about it.....and if the driver gets hurt..they really don't want to hear about it.
the day i get stuck....or whack the truck....then there will be -hell- to pay for.....
the columbia is ok...it's basic..wheels,steering wheel,two seats,crappy mattress,
and thats it.if i were to buy a truck,this wouldn't be it...
i think freightshakers suck, i like peterbilts..379 long nose...i drove a few of those, great trucks. one had a 550 cat that would haul arse!!!!!!!! i hauled gas with it.
8700 gallons of liquid hell...and it pulled the trailer like it was mt.(really).big double stacks. this company truck cannot handle an inverter...so no creature comforts
bad insulation and they don't want you to idle to keep warm....
best wishes mcr.... -
Here I am at Chatt. Looking for a partner
Like I was told 2 weeks ago, co. is not allowing anybody moving from team (division) to solo. And like I was advised (many times before) not to show at Chatt cause they would take the trk... But I had no other choice (had to go to Chatt). So, they took the trk... Said the trk was sold...
The trk had 550 thousand miles but it was in GREAT shape, very powerful engine, it was the BEST TRK in the co. and it was UNGOVERNED...
I will miss it soooo much...
My "new" trk is going to shop tomorrow. It must be governed at 63 mph
And this teaming situation... After surviving 7 partners in 6 excruciating months, I was eager to go solo.... HR guy said that in January, there might be solo openings (freight getting better, blah, blah, blah... yeah, right...
. I'm not counting on that. Heard that co. will be laying off 150 drivers in January. So, they are making drivers very uncomfortable so that they leave. They cancelled the 200 dollars Christmas bonus for those who run through Christmas... So, they are downsizing, cutting costs everywhere. I will start looking for other co. and by January, if nothing changes, will make my move. Eventhough I wil have less than a year experience in one co., I just can't continue teaming...
and I believe (with a good record) I can find something a little better than this. Last thing, co. uses to put bad marks on DAC reports if they know someone is about to leave. So, check your DAC regularly and make the move before they can do anything against you.
Be safe out there.

And it explains what is happening to my son and his co-driver. Since early November they have been sitting more than driving and even though their FM really likes them and used to run, run, run them....she is now making all kinds of excuses for why they have a 200mi run in 3 days, then sit for 2 days waiting for the next paltry run. My son's co-driver is wanting to leave and buy his own truck but my son really needs to stay as long as he can. He is so frustrated with teaming and just wants to solo....which is looking less and less realistic at Covenant. BTW, he reached his 6-mo/80K retention milestone on Tuesday ($2500 bonus). How much you wanna bet he doesn't get it?
He planned to come to my house over Christmas and transfer his CDL to Cali (from Ohio), get his hazmat endorsement, then start looking around for other jobs when he returns to work on Dec 28. Maybe he should start looking now and then follow through on the rest.
This is not good.I hope y'all can hang in there till something better comes along!

..sounds like CONEVANT is going in the tank & they already know it; about all u can do now is stick it out as long as u can, this company isn't the only one who is downsizing as fast as they can to stay afloat, the freight just isn't out there now.. Maybe it will pickup next month.. if you get laid-off then at least u will qualify for unemployment, hope that won't happen to the drivers who post here though..

sounds grim...but they are hiring new recruits i'm sure....they got that hotel in chatt they bought for orientations. i doubt that they will stop recruiting, they might get rid
of "dead weight" drivers and more experienced ones for cheaper labor drivers.
either way, the reputation they have and are nurturing does not stop the mice from getting into the trap.......... -
Hi everybody,
Rocks, sorry to hear they are still giving you the shaft even though you have been one of their better drivers. Too bad the timing is about two weeks off as I think you and Redcoat would get along pretty well. He is so easy going. His partner is scheduled for home time on the 23rd. Redcoat needs to see an eye doctor when he gets home and after that he'll be ready to get back out there.
Speaking of which, I guess they are lucky to have another run. They made it to Spokane and then dead headed to Tacoma to pick up a load going to Peru, IL. After that something going to Indy.
I had to put in an email to payroll because Redcoat and his partner only got paid for one of the three trips they had last week. They are positive they mailed the trippaks so I am waiting to hear from payroll to see what's up.
If Redcoat gets laid off, I imagine his unemployment would be next to nothing since he's only been with the company for a little over three months now. So that would totally bite.
That's all my news for today. Stay tuned.IrunU Thanks this.
