Newb I drove for Swift for my first yrs. I had a excellent trainer who is now a good fried. I will say the money wasn't great most of it can be blamed on me being new and not doing the right things to get better miles or pay. I have made some good money didn't sit very much either. They do not charge for idle time either. If you want a decent truck and shot at making decent $$ then go to them first before you go to Covenant.

Before I had left for a local gig the original owner Jerry bought back the company and had made major changes to the fleet including the most important maintenance, driver pay etc... I don't hear as much bad mouthing from drivers now and hear things are a lot better. One thing is for sure you can be a solo or team driver if you choose. They also are replacing their trucks as I have seen new Frighteners and Volvo's on the road daily.. I heard crap about Covenant even when things were good, and Still choose Swift over them.. I would look in to them first and take what these other drivers are saying about Covenant seriously. What better way to learn about a company then from experience drivers who drive for them now.

If I choose to go OTR after my kids leave home, then Swift would be my first choice unless something else changes. They do have great insurance better then most companies I have looked in to at the time, and never had a issue with getting paid for anything I spent out of pocket ie tolls, scales etc... I also had good trucks that did not require much time in the shop even thou I did spend 4 days once in phoenix because of a broken spring, and they had to wait for a new one to be shipped. When it was done I was back on the road, and I got paid my detention pay for sitting for those 4 days and had my hotel payed for without me shelling anything out of my pocket..

Happy Christmas to you, Ms. & Mr. Redcoat. I am glad they sent him home to spend the holidays with you. :smt052 Enjoy! Although co. has not lifted rule on solos, I've been running solo since last Wednesday. :yes2557: This is the second time they sent me to NY since then. It's 15 degrees here, very windy and nasty. I am in the middle of nowhere, on I-90. Parked for tonight. Take care y'all.

Please do not go to Covenant, they pay ######, they pay scale is the lowest, during training, the amount of miles that you get are while training is not where near the amount that you will be getting after training, take it from me, I just finished training. If do not have a partner after training for those six months, goodluck finding one! I would advise you to go to TMC, or KLLM because you will be making a hugh mistake if you to to Convenant!:biggrin_25510:

Not many office people working at co. since last weekend cause of Christmas. Lost air in my tanks last night while parked here, near Utica, NY and couldn't build it back up. I'm stuck in the middle of snow storm, pretty cold out here, gusty winds blowing snow. Called brkdown. They said will send help. Huge waiting line, though. It may take at least 3 hrs. That's ok, as long as help gets here... Good thing I have 3/4 of tank full, all the food that I need, water, candles, wireless laptop, rice cooker, 2 sleeping bags, blankets, etc.... as long as engine keeps running, I am fine :yes2557:

Thank you! Trk got fixed. It was the governor. Had no trl but was near location where I dropped load last night. So, went back there and got the same (and only trl) they had. Now, back to where I was earlier today. Sent mac 5 cause roads are nasty, ice, snow, dark. I don't feel like going anywhere tonight. Will start fresh tomorrow at 7 am.... I mean, if they give me a load.... good thing I don't have kids to feed :binky: (only a father to support in another country), don't have mortgage, car payments, none of that. No debts at all. Just a few bills every month... depending on where the road takes me, I may get rid of my apartment and live in the trk. I love life on the road!!!!! Just hate this freezing :pottytrain2: weather. Have been idling trk all night yesterday and most of the day today and will idle all night tonight. Brkdown told me to do so trk doesn't freeze up. Let co. try to charge me for that and I will raise hell.:smt074 This is a team trk (although I am running solo). It doesn't have tripac to keep it warm inside and the temps have been in the teens at night and 20s during the day.... :biggrin_2552: All the best to you all.

Hey rocks, glad you are ok, i am solo and don't have a tripac and they say that they don't have any...sure:biggrin_25512:........
they constantly send messages not to idle, i wonder if they go home and sleep in their cars shut off with no heat on 20+- deg nites?:biggrin_2554:
or shut off the heat and a/c at home to "CONNECT " more with their drivers? do you think they say a word for us over their grand dinners at home with their famillies during the holidays? knowing full well that they have us sitting in this tin crapper freezing our :bootyshake: off? nah..
I love this country, but sometimes i wish that my folks would have stayed put and we could have herded goats for a living w/less stress!!:mmad:
so here we are out here, are we going to get rewarded for our work? no...now your reward is that you can say you are "employed"...the way things are and may get
    soon....i guess we are lucky.:biggrin_25514:
    best wishes ya'll
    :santa:
