You simply cannot train "heart" into a person. You either love it or you don't. If you don't love your people, you won't be near as good.

How we dispatch where I work...
Usually a dispatcher will try and get you to the closet load available.
We have to work around issues such as, no shows, illness, breakdowns, hours, and so on.
We dispatch either by zone or region. Number of trucks can vary. Number of loads can vary.
Alot of the times, we will try and get a driver a home load to get home, but that doesn't always happen.
We smooth over problems with customers and drivers. We help with routing and phone numbers, etc.....
We as Dispatchers make sure the loads get moved from one point to the next, efficiently as possible.
I as a Dispatcher have to talk to terminal to terminal to help set the loads up.
I work on 4 computers and get the paper work ready for the drivers.
Paper work has to be in order for the driver.
We do lot's of stuff.............Lilbit, The Challenger, GuysLady and 1 other person Thank this. -
What part of Ca. are you in Guyslady? I'm in the central valley.

SavageSam you asked what Redcoat did while his trainer was on home time. Of the three trainers that Redcoat had, only one took home time during his training and that was so the man could vote. His trainer ended up taking a week's vacation because once they ended up in Orlando where he lived, they had a heck of a time getting out of Florida. So rather than losing several days worth of pay, his trainer burned vacation days until they could get a load out. Meanwhile, Redcoat sat in a hotel bored out of his mind making $50 a day layover pay. Sometimes his trainer would come down and take him out to dinner.
This may not happen to every trainer/trainee but that's what happened to Redcoat.
And speaking of hanging out. After Team Redcoat delivers the load they have now (the frozen water), Redcoat's partner has requested home time in Phoenix. He's asked for 4 days so I think that means Redcoat should get 2 days of layover pay while his teammate is putzing around.
Other from that, I've nothing new or exciting to report. Team Redcoat just crossed the Ohio/Indiana state line about an hour ago and since their load isn't due until 6:30 tomorrow morning, Redcoat is pondering a good truck stop to take a few hours break to watch the race this afternoon. -
So he's going to drive solo after that? My husband plans on driving team. I was trying to figure out what the pay goes up to, but I found out it's not much. My husband mentioned his trainer has worked for Cov. for 4 years and makes .28cpm

Is rc on I-70? If you can let my know where he is I will find him a truck stop that is showing the Dayton 500.

I made .47 a mile when I trained. But not with Covenant, that's for sure.
