Ms. RC, hope you guys and your mom are doing well. Talked to a friend of mine (another Cov. driver) who finished his teaming a couple weeks ago... he got his $ 2500 bonus for his 80 thousand miles and also got a Walmart dedicated account. :biggrin_25519:

Hey Rocks, since I can't PM yet I hope you don't mind me asking you a question here. Since you have been solo on your Walmart dedicated run how many miles are you averaging each week?

    Latest update.

Redcoat sat in Las Vegas for four days living in the truck while his teammate took his home time. His teammate actually doesn't live anywhere so he stayed with a friend of his during his days off. So that was a four-day, non-paid break. The only good thing is he was able to get some good food at the buffets while he was there.

They sat through Monday waiting on a dispatch and when they finally got one Tuesday morning it was dated for Monday. So that put them a day behind the power curve.

Anyway, their dispatch was to make a run up to Idaho for a pick up and then head over to Minnesota. Redcoat says they have three drops in Minnesota and did I understand this correctly that Covenant cut back on their drop pay? If I heard him right, he said that their drop pay went from $50 to $15. Is that right???

If so, how much more money can this company take from their drivers? I'd be willing to bet that some of these drivers could make more money drawing unemployment than they currently make driving.

So that's about it. Nothing much new to report except for a rather amusing story Redcoat told me. He managed to cut his finger on a chipped plate at the buffet and since he was bleeding he went to an employee to see if they had a bandaid. Well, you'd have thought he sliced off a digit. They took him to a nurse who fixed him up but before wrapping up his finger, they took pictures of the offending plate, pictures of the injured finger, and then took a statement from him for exactly what happened.

Redcoat could not believe that a simple request for a bandaid turned into such a production but I reminded him that ours is a very litigous society and they were probably just covering their #####.

    And there you have it.

    Stay tuned.

A cut finger might be a good way to make up some extra $$$ that Covenant is taking from him LOL...If a old lady can spill her own hot coffee in her lab, and make millions, imagine how much Redcoat could make for a cut finger. :)

hi folks....heres one to play with your mind.... directly from covenant:
I spoke to a driver that was on a dedicated account, they took him off the account and did not tell him....so he is no longer a dedicated driver...if he gets a load with multiple stops he should get paid for them...
But no! Covenant tells the driver that he is not a dedicated driver, but if he gets
dedicated runs he does not get the extra pay.....WHAT????????
He is not a dedicated driver, but becomes one depending on the load he has,but how does he/she know what is what??????
This is just another ploy from them to cheat drivers out of pay...simply put.
And with the cuts in the ranks of drivers, they eliminate the experienced drivers,
keep the cheaper newbies and still make money in a bad time like this...
Experienced drivers take less crap from these cretons than the newbies do.
As for me..still looking, waiting and seeing where me and deb want to land.
    best wishes
    MCR&DEB.

So far, I am averaging 3 thousand per week. My friend, who got a Walmart dedicated 2 weeks ago said that so far he had 8 trips and made 7,200 miles (average 900 miles per trip). He's very satisfied. :yes2557:

I think there is some confusion here, with the terms dedicated account and dedicated run. That could be the issue.

We have dedicated accounts. I alternate between 2 of them. However, it is not a dedicated run.

If I get a "run" I get paid more (about 10%). Where as a simple dedicated account pays me what everyone else gets paid.

We have 2 drivers at the account where I live...me being one. The other driver makes 4 rounds a week, to and from the customer. Where I see them once a week.

We both work a dedicated account. But HE has the only dedicated run.

BUT... if he gets sick, and I have to cover his run. I get his pay scale for that run. :D

At Covenant, dedicated accounts guarantee at least 2500 miles per week but they pay less per mile than regular runs.

    Speaking of less pay....

Redcoat got his penny raise so he is now making .08 cpm taxable and .08 cpm per diem. One more penny and he'll be back up to the amount he was making while he was with his trainer...:biggrin_2555:

So if the dedicated accounts pay less than regular ones, I'm curious as to HOW MUCH LESS can the company pay somebody to drive???

    Latest update.

Team Redcoat are on their way to Indianapolis to pick up a load headed to Tracy, CA, so they have managed to get out of the cold, white north.

Redcoat has a question about the bonus money for his teammate. The man hit his six month time last week and is within a week or so of making his 80,000 miles. He wants to know if the company automatically pays him the bonus money or does he have to apply to someone for it.

    Stay tuned.

That was one nice surprise for me, at my current company. They pay more for dedicated. Where most companies pay less.

BUT...they will pull you from that account in a heartbeat, if you screw it up even once. Their dedicated runs, are that important. So they say.

If they keep cutting pay, back to 1985 levels. Your husbands next .01 raise, will have him at top solo pay.
