I asked the question. Redcoat says that there is a windowed office just inside the front door where security used to be but that is all shuttered now. Instead all the admin types now have cards that they use to get into all the closed/locked doors. He also found out that the elevator won't go up to the second floor until after a certain time in the morning (8:30 I think). When he was at Chatt. he went in early around 8:00 to go upstairs to use the bathroom and the elevator wouldn't move because he didn't have one of the cards. But an office worker stepped in and used her card to make the elevator move. She told him that before and after a certain time you must use the card to operate the elevator.

This morning Redcoat called the man in charge of dedicated accounts (skipping over his DM's supervisor that he says is a real "wanker" and in bed with his DM anyway) and they had a frank discussion. The head man agreed that Redcoat's DM should have come out to talk with RC while he was at Chatt. about driving dedicated since RC was still relatively new to the industry. He said he would speak to the DM about his one-word replys on the QC (which lead to much confusion about which QC message is being replied to) and he tried to smooth ruffled feathers by saying it's nothing personal just that the DM's are very busy on Monday morning. He told Redcoat that in the GP account they like to try to get the drivers home for their resets if possible. Well that would have been good intel to know before he left Chatt.

Redcoat also told him about the circumstances of getting his service failure and the man agreed that it partially wasn't Redcoat's fault and said he would look into it and review the particulars.

Wouldn't it be nice if they would actually retract the service failure?

Other from that, Redcoat is stuck waiting in Doraville, GA. He arrived for an on-time delivery but Covenant had not made any appointment -- yet again. This is the third time he's had to wait because no appointment was made. Such a waste of time and money.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

RCW, I hope RC can hang in there till he can get a better job. With this economy, companies are going to look at everything on his back ground check and driving record. It would be nice if they could retract that service failure.

Yep, common story with them. I sat at a Wal-Mart for six days once because they made the actual appointment a day BEFORE the time I got on my dispatch over the Qualcomm. Interesting, because it would have been impossible for me to make the ACTUAL appointment without violating HOS.

Typical Covenant. I guess I'm lucky I was only with them for a summer.

Well we found out today that it ain't gonna happen. The man said he'd change it to a "verbal warning" whatever that means but he also said that two more and he'd be fired.

Whatever. At this point Redcoat really doesn't care anymore and neither do I. The man is just totally burned out and I can't blame him. You would think that after a year things would start to get easier but it's still one obstacle after another. He found out today that he won't be getting any home time here in North Carolina because NC is "out of his lane." Currently he's trying to find out where, exactly, IS his lane. Based on the assignments he's had, my guess is it goes from GA/SC to TX. Although he came up to NC on his first trip when he spent the night at the 'chicken killing place' as he calls it.

Apparently, if I want to see my husband, I'm going to have to talk to my boss to see if I can get work in those states which sucks because I've been making some really good money here in NC.

I have resolved to compile an orientation manual (of sorts) for driving GP dedicated to post here in the forum for any other newbie drivers since Covenant doesn't think it's necessary to sit down with a driver to give them the information they need to do a good job from the start. They leave it up to chance meetings with other GP drivers to fill in the new guy.

Walmart dedicated is offering two spots. Must have 1 yr experience, have HM and live in the eastern US. I sent you a pm if RC wants to contact the dispatcher. Good luck. :biggrin_25519:

I have been reading the posts and I now believe that what I was writing about Covenant was not read...
Why are we all so shocked about the service failure issue? and the wrong and late appointments? And the wrong pick up numbers and del numbers???
I wrote about all this...and still I state that Covenant IS RUN BY idiots. Why they are in business is not for the freight, it's to milk the government for the cash they get from training new drivers, and recruiting new ones.
Anyway, I will still read on and be amazed at what you are calling schocking and incredible things that are happening to RC.....by Covenant.
I quit them... I had enough of all of this and more...they will put anything on you to get you fired there, and there is no one to talk to there, they are all YES men/women.
They have plenty of wannabee's out there looking for the chance to get on the "GOLD NUGGET " wagon.....lots of miles, high pay, and the respect you deserve..........NOT FROM COVENANT.
I am home, happy not driving...and trying to make a dollar in a sewer company like Covenant.
    Good luck RC.....

Hey MCR! Good to see you are still alive and kicking.

Kinghunter, I called about the WM dedicated slots and within hours of posting the fleet message about them, they were snapped up. Redcoat doesn't qualify for them yet anyway. He's got a year with the company but they want a year driving experience which Redcoat won't have until the middle of November.

At the moment, Redcoat is hanging around Chatt. waiting for his "new" truck to get fixed. They sold the other one he had and gave him a trainer's truck. It's a 2008 with 291,000 miles on it and right now they're fixing something to do with the brakes. He said it was still dirty on the inside but nowhere NEAR the biohazzard his other truck was. He said at least this one won't take long to clean.

If you're looking at NC, there is (from what I hear) a decent company there called Swing Transportation. That is, if you are possibly looking at jumping. Plus, there is Keystone Freight in Greensboro. I don't know what you guys are looking to do, but I hope this helps! Good luck!

Finally RC and I had opportunity to meet each other here at Cov. terminal in Chatt. It was great! :yes2557: After knowing so much about his experiences in the co., there was a lot to talk and we chatted for hrs. :biggrin_25519: It didn't take too long for his truck to be fixed and this afternoon he was on his way to p/up a load. Mr. RC is a very nice fellow. I am very glad we met. I have been following his "saga" since the beginning and wanted to congratulate him in person for his fortitude, persistence, patience, efforts and progress. I really, really wish him best of luck and hope things get better for him at Cov. or that he finds a good place to go when he leaves here. I am sending you a pic we took together. Check your email. All the best!
