Looks like Covenant would not accept lawful alternate identification and required a "green card"
Trimmed from the article:
"Federal law allows all workers to choose which valid, legally acceptable documentation to present to demonstrate their identity and permission to work, regardless of citizenship status, immigration status, or national origin."gentleroger Thanks this. -

I thought a driver’s license wasn’t proof of citizenship. That’s why we all have to jump through hoops to get a gold star and the real ID?

Form I-9 Acceptable Documents | USCIS
If a person complies with the I-9 requirements, that's all that's needed. Requiring more than that is slightly illegal, requiring it of only certain groups is definitely illegal.Concorde Thanks this. -
Yeah you're right something wasn't right. Covenant was asking for more documents than what was necessary. They discriminated definitely for sure. A company that has Bible verses on their trailers should do better. Lol.FearTheCorn, aussiejosh, Cat sdp and 3 others Thank this.

Fined for hiring illegals or fined for trying not to
Sad day
That should scare everyone
A student ID and a fake SS card is all it takes to meet those requirementsdrvrtech77 and buzzarddriver Thank this. -
Fun fact - most naturally born US Citizens cannot provide "A List Documents", and if the company is that worried about illegals, they should apply the same policy for all applicants, not just for some. And what's the bet that there is a pattern for who got asked for extra documents beyond "foreign "?
