If he has at least three months exp. then "DITTO"! If not then stick it out until three months and find a better company. Peace!

think covenant may actually be the WORST company out there.
my best friends step-dad works there, they wont let him out of team "no trucks" haa, my butt!! he is lucky to make a 400 $$$ paycheck each week -
All large companies promise the moon but deliver craters. It seems to be the only way they can attract new drivers. The sad part is that so many fall for it. They always do and they always will. On the bright side, it will keep sites like this up and running.
Just my two cents but people, the bad companies are listed for you at the top of the thread called "Motor carrier questions, the inside scoop". I am sorry but it is no fault but your own if you hire on with the majority of them. If you do, you will find yourself on this thread time and time again. We all wonder why? -
bduke's point about good companies not having to advertise is 100% right on!! That is an excellent rule of thumb. If they have the big splashy ads with pictures of the recruiters and all of their pretty trucks and promises, don't even bother!
WiseOne Thanks this. -
My small Co doesn't advertise, but has a high turn over rate because of the economy and weather plays a huge part in how much money you make each week. Last week I made $949 this week $1,150. Some weeks when it is really bad because of rain (if it is to wet, they can't poor mud) it can be as low as $510 take home. But at least we have a guarantee pay, so if I sit home all week I still collect $510..
O Ya and welcome to the forums.. -
Thanks for all of your responses. I do agree with you about looking into the turnover. My trucker was referred to Covenant by a friend who has been with them for the past 2 years and is now a trainer. Needless to say he didn't research.

doubledragon5, Lonesome and AfterShock Thank this.

A "friend", eah?
And a trainer to boot?
Hmmmmmmmm .............................. :smt017
Some "friend"!
Did that "friend" receive a referral bonus?
Maybe your trucker can become a trainer, too ---
What does it take, experience wise, to become a trainer at Covenant?
Three months?
Six months?
I'm thinkin' with more than that,
he'd be OVER qualified.
If Covenant drivers don't last more than a year there,
it stands to reason that they promote their newBees to
trainer status rather quickly.
-
lol. Yes he did get a bonus...

You read what's posted here at TTR?
How/Where do you find the time, WiseOne?
depicting a guy in hip-boots, standin' in the water,
fly fishin' in a Montana river, ........
and it shows him catchin' a
newBee.
Hook, line AND stinker.
But, instead of usin' a fly at the end of the line,
he's usin' a little Covenant Big truck.
You know, a lure --- for bait.
And SOME folks wonder why you're called "WISEOne"?
Not ME, though.
I know why.
And I THANK YOU.
Can y'all just imagine how much it costs those skanky companies to do
ALL that advertising?
It must cost a bundle.
Which leads this poster to believe that there MUST be SOME profit
in baiting newBees to become part of the Covenant 'team'.
Either through their 'training' (and I use that term VERY loosely)
program, and/or the cheap labor they find hiring those newBees.
IMO, it's bait & switch.
That might work with fish, but it sure fries those newBees.
Drive for Covenant
Become Experienced
YeAH!
And WHAT an experience that experience is.
Thanx again, WiseOne.
You da MAN!
wallbanger, MACK E-6 and WiseOne Thank this.
