As a Christian, whenever I see any business advertising as a "Christian Business" ... I run the other way.

Never understood the bottom-feeder mentality. --> It's almost like if they are not messing with you they must not be a real company.

But freight levels are low right now = you need to take what you can get.

It seems like some are willing to give more and the bottom-feeders are sure taking liberty.

The minute that comes out of dispatches mouth... It usually results in one of us taking a cussing.

""Freight levels are not my problem, that's another department. Maybe you should be riding someone else's ### not mine. ""

That comment usually gets a rise out of them.

If I'm not making money...they aren't making money. And no excuse they feed me will change that fact. I do not get paid to babysit their equipment...stick me on the clock. And let's see how long it takes them to find freight.

i told that just recently to my current -dm-, if theres no work, send me home,we don't get paid to babysit the truck and trailer, after that i started moving.
plus we can't idle, so no creature comforts, and we still have expenses such as showers if we don't fuel and food.
but they still claim thats not their problem:biggrin_25511:

I've walked from several jobs that were like that.

The minute they say "That's trucking, it's not our problem" I'm out the door.

Their job is to book loads for their trucks. My job is to move it in a safe and timely manner. Most of the office personel get paid a salary...while we get jack, for their lack of job skills and work ethics.

My bull#### meter is set to LOW, since I have no debt. I'll walk in a heartbeat...and lose no sleep.

Da compnee sto...don't on me no mo'

    Stupid question of the day-
Say I find myself in a no-load situation....
I take it companies usually frown upon my calling load brokers
on my own to try to find a load.... ?

What department usually handles that within a carrier?

You're going to find yourself sitting, occasionally. For all my #####in I do within this forum. I do sit. I just don't sit as much as others...before I pull the trigger on my dispatcher and load planners.

And NO, you won't be allowed to find your own load with the big companies. Everything will be handled through the home office and QualComm or whatever form of communication they use.

A good company will try to keep you moving as best they can. Right now, I have to say you can expect at least 2k miles a week, until freight picks back up. Some will do better, others worse.

A bad company...will let you sit for more than 48 hours. Twice a week.

And anyone who tells you that getting 2, 34 hr resets in a week...is "Just Trucking" and normal...is a liar.

Although it can and does happen...it is NOT normal.

As a newbie, go with the flow for awhile. Until you actually have a handle on what the job is really about.

Use your downtime wisely, network and communicate with other drivers. This allows you to build a continuing list of contacts and potentially lucrative jobs for future use.

    Not their problem?
    Hmmmmmmmm

I wonder if they'd consider 80% of their fleet of Big trucks
with empty seats to be "their" problem?
Then, they could advertise that 100% of the 20% of their fleet
still running, are getting good miles. :yes2557:
