Orientation was as I expected, usual classes and videos. O/O still do a road and backing test. You do have the option to use your own, i just used thiers. The main issue I had was being told many different things by different people about how my dispatch and other things would go.After finding out that they did not know what they were talking about, I feel more at ease. The Payroll dept is where you do insurance, sign contracts etc.. They DID NOT know how to put me in the systen, some that I talked to in permits and safety didnt even know who Farm 2 Fleet was. So the communication broke down there. It was fixed later, but it was frustrating. But I think that Iam one of the first in a class 8 to sign on where they were used to straight trucks. So in the future there shouldnt be any problems for other people signing on.
I should be out of here this evening, my permits are done. Just need the shop to get my qualcomm in and signs on. So the adventure begins! -
Great update. Sorry we are going to miss you. Will be in Chattanooga tomorrow night for the weekend. Be nice to Shelby!
Pound Puppy Thanks this. -
Yea, Im waiting for the shop to get the qualcomm in, should be rolling tomorrow morning. Im sure Ill catch up with you two at some point!
Today I finished up my permits and gor my prepass etc.. Met Bill, Laura and Tom in Farm 2 Fleet. Very good people, explained a lot to me and helped me understand the issues I had had, Iam the first class 8 truck to come in on thier division so it was a learning process for the staff to get me in the system. Tom showed me how they book freight and how rates are calculated, I was very happy with the rates that he showed me. I wont post them for obvious reasons, but at the end of pay periods I will post my mileage and revenue. The only thing holding me up is the shop. Im waiting for them to do an annual inspection, install the qualcomm (yes, its electronic logs), and put thier signs on. Hopefully this wont take too terribly long. I anticipate getting a load tomorrow and getting started. -
fyi, it is Lauren, not Laura
Pound Puppy Thanks this. -
Pound Puppy, will the signs on your truck say covenant? Just curious.

Lone Ranger 13 Thanks this.

Yeah, everything is run thru Covenant ie. signs, fuel card, ifta, permits, insurance and logs. Its kind of the best of both worlds, big company purchasing power with small company doing dispatch.
