I was in Houston Wed, didn't see much of anything worth a ####.. Got a hotel stayed till 11am check out and still nothing worth a #### Thurs.. found 1 load at $2/mile that was going to my home town from Dallas. called about it and asked him to check the dimensions and sure enough it was a screwed up posting...and they took it down...

At that point I started driving empty toward FL.. and finally found a load out of gulfport/MS that gave me $1/mile after all my dead head and delivers 30 miles from my house Monday.. So I'm home now..

No reason to stay out there for this crap and risk death or serious illness and deal with all the restaurants being closed ect..... Guess I'll wait it out just like I waited out winter. I will just keep watching the boards and try to look for quick runs out that I can get something right back with. That's what I did all winter, was quick trips from central FL to LA,AL, MS and sometimes TX then find something right back home.. Not great money but at least it's steady...

I will say I saw a ton of empty flatbeds going both ways on i10 on my drive home, both hotshots and flatbeds and I saw multiple HS with very small loads. Kinda like they took whatever they could get..

I bounced out of NY. But that's normal for me. Stuff going in pays nice, crap coming out ain't worth the effort.

Sitting in my easy chair waiting for Monday to roll around.

Seriously? Who in the world is running that cheap? I demand (and get) better than two grand to the truck (after the company's cut) to run from northern TN to NY!

No wonder it's a constant fight to get a decent rate. Idiots out here running for fuel money and that's it!

All I know, is I just drove past a local truck parking yard where lots of guys park their rigs here in town. I've never seen the place as full as it was today. Meaning lots of trucks are off the road and rates are still garbage..

Spot market is definitely being affected either positively or negatively. Some guys that are serving the food service industry have more work than they can handle. (Have you been to the stores lately?). Those shelves are now slowly being filled back up. This virus thing is a temporary thing, the oil thing demand side will slowly come back. It would be helpful if the supply side could be diminished, worldwide glut. Consumer confidence is what concerns me because we may be in this situation awhile.

I talked to one of my friends yesterday that still drives at Prime doing reefer. He actually said they haven't been that busy. Said most of the food loads are going to teams though which might be what's up.

The problem is no matter how you look at it, the distribution centers can only handle so many trucks and so long as the bulk of them use the "one guy" unloads & counts everything they will not handle any extra volume over number busy times.

Also despite things in walmart needing to be replenished there is a cut in lots of other areas so there is more than enough trucks to cover those loads which is why I think it's a slowdown overall for most of us. Yea certain places need loads now but even still there is only a limited volume than can be shipped.

I'd assume once we get past this it will go pretty crazy if we aren't in a economic crash...

Rounding off. But as of today per CDC/WHO #s 300k infected 13k dead. That's a 4% world mortality rate. I'm sure Iran is skewing it but ####. US 24k infected 300 dead. 1% mortality rate. 7,500 new US cases and 33k world cases over night.
