Coyote got a bad name on this board early on with what appeared to be some young and aggressive kids playing trucking and trying to talk the company up.
Then when some of us started seeing this massive contract it was game on again with the "what is this company thinking"?
But in the end because they have freight in areas that a couple of our drivers run a lot we moved forward. Our experience has been a little different. We get solid rates and our drivers work with the same person on loads. And they don't play games when it comes to paying or booking loads.
The more I learn about Coyote the more impressed I am with them. It was started by Jeff Silver, co-founder of American Backhaulers, the company that was bought by CHR for the technology they created. But ABI was more than on the cutting edge in terms of technology. Jeff created a company that han edge to it. Hiring young, aggressive college grads that seemed to have endless energy and lived for the sale. Sounds a lot like what CHR does today and the exact business model of Coyote.
It remains to be seen if Jeff and the millions of investment dollars that have poured into this company will follow the same path and allow someone like the billion dollar TQL to acquire them (Coyote is likely going to be about $400 million this year) or will they use the huge bank they have and buy a poorly run company like TQL and transform it. Can't say I know the plans but Coyote is a player in a big way. They have money, leadership and a seemingly endless supply of young, hungry, still living with mom, college grades to fill the chairs.
Hmm, wonder if some of this could be copied into other areas of trucking?

Coyote is the worst for this, not sure why. As soon as I have the load info, I call the shipper and consignee to confirm the appointment times Coyote SAYS I have.

are you guess serious i just signed up for coyote today! and they said they have loads all over midwest...why do you guess think they are not good?
-
They have a ton of freight. $260 million in revenue in 2011. I was informed by someone that runs a lot of loads with them that the key is getting a good manager to work with.

I have hauled a load for them in the Northeast. It was cheap and heavy. They said it it is 44K but actually was over 45K which put me over the edge for 80K for few pounds.

Bill...very true..I agree...

We use Coyote often and they give us no problems or hassle. I'm not sure of Vtran..?

Slid to Coyote a few weeks ago after a stint with another company, everything has been spot on to include a great fast pay without endless excuses.
Perfict? No but I can live with it and as I said so far excellent.
