I think there are only three or four states that complied with the intentions of UCR. Florida is one, I think Arizona might be one, can't remember the others. If your UCR is paid, you're good to go on a local load.

Many states will do the authority pretty easy. The catch and cost involved is registering as a foreign corp and any state taxes that might subject you to as an intrastate operator. That wasn't the case with Texas. Just the one time fee up front + keeping UCR paid up.

Then there's states like PA, where the process for out of state carriers is deliberately difficult and expensive to favor their resident carriers.

I've paid my UCR from the middle of 2008 until now maybe it's because I live in Texas but every two years I have to renew mine

[h=1]i found this, if i am reading it right it sounds like if your state uses UCR and you are in compliance with UCR you do not have to pay any fee to the state for intrastate.

    12. INTRASTATE REGISTRATION FOR AN INTERSTATE OPERATION IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE UCR AGREEMENT[/h] (a) Once the registrant has complied with the filing requirements and payment of the UCR fees, the State may not require any additional payment of motor vehicle fees or issue any credentials for operations within or through the State for an annual intrastate renewal.

General rule is, if you don't know, don't haul intrastate for any state. Always deliver to another state than you picked up in.

I know OH and PA are. TX is a biggie. I might actually get TX authority for next month. I just went to El Paso (great rate going in, deadheaded to Nogales to get out). Had a lot of loads going toward Dallas or Houston that I just couldn't take that paid decent.

Just don't ever let those states find out. I know PA's requires you to affirm you've never hauled intrastate prior to applying for intrastate authority.

lol.... funny how they somehow find another 3 bills when they need to move something bad.... that's classic, the broker telling you that you really need to haul his load...

    lol..

And that probably really put him over the edge... Like the time I had an Allen Lund broker call me back to taunt me because I refused his low ball rate, "hey trees, I just wanted to tell you that I just booked that load we discussed with another carrier for $150 less than my last offer..."

I said, "hey, that's great, see it worked out for you, and that's cool cause it means we both made some money today..."

He was screaming obscenities into the phone as I hung up.....

I haven't called Allen Lund about any loads since...

Coyote called me as I am getting loaded for another company and admitted I was correct and a supervisor apologised, it blows my mind she admitted they were incorrect and called me to say so.

Big that a boy in my mind for Coyote to do that, in all my years in a office or truck no one has ever done that.

    Shows class
