Awesome! Not specific to Coyote, but that threat usually gets them moving. I have yet to actually pull away MT with the shipper missing it.
Not surprising, but I wouldn't know. I quit taking their loads after I didn't get paid for the last one 2 yrs ago until I claimed their bond. The ACH notice came 5 minutes after the bonding company accepted my claim.
They called for a few months after that, but I just wait until they stop talking and tell them their credit's no good and hang up.

And so I had just had cross words with the actual broker of the load who was at home and told hime that he could having his ####ing load back I'm done with these time wasters and going home. Then I slammed the phone, or at least as best you can hitting end lol. Do you know the cold storage called with 10 seconds of that coversation ending and told me to back into door 10. lol. it might have been coincidence but I promise you I had sat there 2 hours already and I was not going to be one of those 8 or 10 hour waits. Everyone should do that. Keeps them on their toes.TheBigCajun, Mike2633, RedForeman and 1 other person Thank this. -
I left a load on the dock for the first time a few weeks back. I was low on patience already after wasting 5 hours that day at a WalMart DC across town and after 2 hours was being told this shipper didn't have an ETA for getting me a dock and that they wouldn't pay detention. Same thing where all the google reviews were negative "been here 8 hours and still not loaded..." etc so I insisted on detention. Broker countered that they had 100 other trucks who'd be happy to take this load. I said, then load one of them, I'm leaving...
I was all worried this mega broker would ding my carrier411, but they called today and booked me on something else like it never even happened...TheBigCajun, ajohnson123 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Yeah they are unfazed by that it's really a minor thing. That Coyote broker actually admitted he didn't blame me. Some of the TQL people told me they'd had many problems with long waits at this particular shipper. Of course they leave that out when selling a carrier the load right? Really though that sort of thing is to be expected at any cold storage. But had I known the pickup appt was blown I would not have booked it period. The devil is always in the DETAILS.
Mike2633 and double yellow Thank this. -
I'm kind of a slow learner, so it took me a couple years to realize I don't have to service every possible customer to make a few dollars. When I quit tolerating the theft of my services, my stress level went way down. That's why I no longer accept offers from Coyote, at any rate.
I don't beat myself up too much over how long it took. It does take a while to learn who the bad operators are in an area, then be knowledgeable in advance to refuse service to them. The cost of admission.
Of course that's a 2-way street. It doesn't do you any good if you're not on point yourself with telling time and communicating well. Some people bring about their own problems.TheBigCajun, SL3406 and rollin coal Thank this. -
Let me share with you a little info that I recently had to learn the hard way about Coyote.
A friend of mine that I grew up with in Louisiana is the logistics manager for a small shipper out of Slidell, that regularly gives loads to Coyote. He said that since March of this year, they’ve been paying Coyote roughly $2.75pm for this product that goes to the same place just north of NYC, multiple times per week.
He was actually quite p*ss*d to learn that Coyote was only paying the drivers $1.74pm for that same load. I know, I know there are lots of them that do it. But this time, it’s not speculation. I had to see it with my own eyes. Think about that for a second.
That’s nearly 37%, to a middleman, who’s lying to both the customer AND the drivers.
Also, they have “zero” loyalty to ANY driver. If for any reason you are rescheduled, delayed in traffic/late, or run out of time on your ELD, Coyote will absolutely roll you over, hold you down, and let their customer have their way with you.
I recently missed an appointment due to a 4-hour backup caused by an accident in a construction zone on I-287 outside of New York (the spot just north of New Jersey, where construction closes off 3 of 4 lanes). I was exactly 37 miles away from the delivery when my ELD forced me to stop. I received no dentention/layover, and I had to wait, not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but “5” days to reschedule.
If you wish to throw your carreer, your livelihood and your future in with this gutter trash brokerage, you go right on ahead, but my company is done with them.
That whole “pack spirit” and “hunter loyalty mentally”, is all corperate cultism to try and mask what they truly are. They did nail it with the name “Coyote” though...as they most certainly ARE a pack of bottom-feeding scavengers who prey on the week and unsuspecting.Last edited: Aug 30, 2018

I picked a load this week, posted for $550 for 120 miles. I called on it, they refused to budge. I told the rep that I'mma go take a shower (truck stop) and we can talk about it when I'm wide awake, if it was still there.
45 mins later, showered/coffeed up, they caved in at $750 plus agreed to $50/hr detention if it happens. -
