I had a bad deal with them about 5 yrs ago. Waited too long to get loaded should have cancelled and went back home, fell asleep waiting finally got loaded delivered They obviously had dbl brokered the Load all the tell tale signs were there. They had not a clue what was going on. Lots of Inexperienced young people working there.Hadnt pulled a load since till 2 weeks ago. They seem to be a little better but still need improvement. TQL used to be good 14 yrs ago but I won’t work for them any more can’t be trusted. So much dbl brokering going on these days got to hold out or let them keep what they don’t have

    Thanks lol, I needed this.

Yeah, I’ve gotten caught up in that mess with them too. And MAN does it suck when you realize you’re in bed with one of them.

Your a fool to wait 5 days to get unloaded. If I couldn't make it today and they couldn't fit me in tomorrow, it would be sitting back at the shipper the 3rd day. I don't care what it cost me. I know it would cost them just as much.

Yeah I hear ya man. That’s exactly what I was going to do, but atm I’m leased on with a buddy to help him grow his new company, and he begged me not to do it.

If it were my DOT numbers, this would have been a much different story.

Is there a reason you would drive all the way back to the shipper to drop it off versus finding a storage facility closer to the receiver?

We were actually considering this option as well, but Coyote mentioned something about “holding a load hostage”.

If the cost of doing so is less than the revenue lost by waiting. That is, provided you have indisputable documentation that delay was on the shipper end and that you diligently moved the load in a prompt fashion. Mark the bills "refused" and take it back. Nothing shady about that, and it does get a broker's attention. No matter how big the mega 3PL is, never forget you're the one in charge while the load is on your equipment.

Coyote, just like most any other broker will try to convince you to give your services for free. As mentioned above, it's blatant theft of service IMO. You're not holding anything hostage by placing it in storage. They're actually trying to hold you and your equipment hostage by forcing you to move it for free back to the shipper and/or sit on it until the receiver finally decides to offload you. Personally, I'd put it in a storage facility and forward them the bill.

Indeed! That's why I would never return the shipment back to it's origin without suitable compensation. Storage, to me...is the fairest option for all parties.

I pull a flatbed and there is no storage facility for 40 foot pipe, or 40,000lbs steel coil or 25 foot steel bars or who knows what I'm hauling. It takes time to find storage place, arguments on where and why this and that. Screw that, I call the broker and tell them there is 3 choices, you either get me unloaded or pay me for sitting here, or I WILL return it to the shipper. Works like charm. I have only returned 1 time in 25 years. And that one time, I got paid to haul it there, but returned on my dime. If I sit more than 3 hours I'm on the phone and telling them they got 3 choices. I'm not looking be fair at that point, no ones looking to fair to me I've figured out by then.
