I think you missed the point of the post. OP is concerned about state laws. By far the most limiting factor to idling comes from companies. I still contend the guy with the badge and gun will be more understanding than some bean counter. As long as the truck driver treats LEO with respect, has a legitimate reason to idle the truck, and doesn't idle when it isn't required, I believe he will not be hassled 99% of the time. If you just want to idle so you can play video games, that probably won't fly with LEO.

Playing video games strengthens my fingers on my right hand, thereby making them strong enough to consistently and confidently move the range button up and down from high to low.

So it's physical therapy. I'm sure that'll satisfy 'em.

Well if the guy can't survive without the truck running I don't think they are going to make him shut it off. Course I could be wrong. In Cali they just might prefer you to die than idle!

This is the interesting thing about the mountains of regulations on the books now, they start bumping into each other and conflicting with each other and then no one, including law enforcement, can get it right. Welcome to the world of unintended consequences.

This is probably the biggest reason most Societies fall apart after a few hundred years. They collapse under the weight of their own inertia.
