I personally don't trust GPS. Just look at the atlas or mapquest/google map, etc.....My dad calls me a GPS because I studied directions to I-70 near pittsburgh.

Only time I have ever used my GPS is when im close to the customer and my directions I got from the customer.GPS is great for say nights and you can't see the street sign you're suppose to turn because its raining out.But that's the only time ive used it.To plan my route its the Atlas then mapquest to compare.Theres been many times my GPS tells me to turn on a certain road and customer gives me different directions.I take their directions always.

Off topic is one thing. What you said is unacceptable. First you called someone an "ignoramus". Then a couple posts later you told someone to kiss your backside, in less friendly terms. That's not allowed, and you know it.

On a lighter note, I would suggest to you that you learn to take yourself a little bit less seriously. I get that, I've been there once myself when I was a rookie and felt I had to prove myself to earn any respect. Trust me, it will come. It takes time, but it will come.

    Please, try to lighten up.:)

We all have made a mistake or two in our driving careers, it's learning from these mistakes that makes us a more professional driver. And any driver who states otherwise I would look at their truck and their nose because they just be talking out there bum.

But if you read her Werner thread she seems to be entitled just because she has a cdl, I personally would rather drive with people who learn things out here daily, I have been driving for 13 yrs and still learn new stuff all the time, the ones to watch out for are the ones who know everything and think there is nothing more to learn.

In my experience, the moment you start thinking you're the best at something is the moment you screw up and get a kick in your now swelled head. Humility is a virtue.

well according to his post, it wasn't a mistake. and we also dont know if that driver was a seasoned vet disregarding the rules and laws of the road, or a newb fresh out of training. however, I'm a newb and I don't drive like that. I signal, I use both of my mirrors and when all is clear, I make my lane change. So seasoned or newb, there's really no excuse for cutting someone off 3 times and making negligent lane changes...none whatsoever.

cutting someone off is not a "mistake", unless that person happens to be in your blind spot and you don't even know they're there, and that's the only time I can think of that cutting someone is a "mistake" at best. It's a blatant disregard for other drivers and it's very dangerous too, and causes accidents.

and by negligent lane changes, I'm assuming the driver in question was moving from lane to lane at will without signaling or looking first or using a turn signal.

and both acts if witnessed by a law enforcement officer could result in citations for careless driving, reckless driving, failure to use turn signal (which is a moving violation), improper lane change, following too closely, aggressive driving, etc.

so, in which case, I'm all for ratting out dangerous drivers who endanger the safety of the public and others in our industry who drive safely. those people shouldnt be on the roads under any circumstances...commercial driving or personal driving. I don't care what company they work for.

Mercy. I keep coming back to this thread hoping to see a little contrition on the OP's part. :biggrin_25512: Rats, foiled again.

Oh well. Can't win 'em all.

everyone here has the potential of being a dangerous driver

we talk on phones, we talk on cb's, we drink (soda), we eat, we get road hypnosis

not only that, some of us listen to the radio, sing out loud, talk on phones, text message and host of other things
    '
we DRIVE for a living and that doesnt mean like a robot, but as a human, with thoughts and distractions

if we start ratting on each other, where does it end? in a previous life, i had a fellow mega driver call on me because i didnt have a padlock on the back of my trailer

the industry loves for us to be at each other's throats, and encouraging drivers to be rats on other drivers helps keep that division alive

you may take the rat road, i avoid it at all costs

the good it brings is outweighed by the bad it brings

What's your badge number? Don't get where you feel capable of judging who should be on the road and who shouldn't. Let the DOT's do their job and keep your eyes on the road.
