Did she file charges with the local police? If not, why not? And did you know this woman or is this all hearsay?

Hasn't anyone learned the difference between a truckers story and a fairy tail?

I believe not a freaking thing that comes out of another drivers mouth. I've had drivers who have said they were spooks and deployed to Pakistan to hunt Osama, others who have said they played music with 3 Doors down and his wife is some big neurosurgen but his ### was always bumming money from me because he was so far behind on bills. Yea you get the point. Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you read.

I know I've said I try to stay clear of these threads but this one, I can't.
No its not, if they have a truck to put you in, they will put you in it. If you choose not to wait, they will suggest a lease.
I can't see it taking that long but if does, take your CDL elsewhere. If you drive as a company driver, they pay you to drive their truck. If your not driving, they aren't going to pay you.
Again, they don't force you to do anything. Like I said, if leasing was the only option and you didn't want to, go somewhere else.
Not all of them. Ours had 2.5 years experience. I know that's not a lot but given the circumstances, its a hell of a lot better than someone with a month and a half.

Again, if your trainer doesn't meet your criteria and they won't give you one with more experience, leave. Don't come on here whining about your piss-poor choices and expecting sympathy.
I'm sorry this happened but the training coordinators are supposed to be told who the bad trainers are. If they do and still have trainers like this then I don't know what more to say other than I'm sorry you and this other woman went through that.
The doubling up on students is up to the trainer and the students.

Did you report your trainer for making you sleep on the top bunk? England has a strict policy about sleeping on the top bunk while the truck is in motion.
Can't speak from experience on this as my wife and I went to salt lake.
Again, nobody is making you sign a lease.
You pay that because you are a lease operator on the same playing field as an independent contractor. You're running your own business so you have to pay England for their staff of DMs, load planners for getting you your loads, after-hours department for dealing with load issues, road service department so that when you have a breakdown, You don't have to call around to find a shop to go to or even deal with any of it.
The only tolls you have to pay for are the tolls that CRE doesn't pay for. Those tolls, you don't want to pay for them yourself, easy, don't drive on them. Problem solved.

As for the lease payment, fuel, permits, weighs, ect ect, that's all part of being a business owner. Plus, its tax deductible.
The DMs work for you. If they aren't giving you them miles, then fire them. If you kept them as your DM, that's your own fault.

Plus, the DM gets bonuses in their pay based on how many miles you and every driver in their fleet runs. I find it hard to believe your DM was truly at fault for your shoddy miles. But, if they in fact were and apparently didn't care about making more money from your more miles, then you request a new one.
