I had a dump truck barrel down on me from behind 2 days ago. I was in my personal pick up and watched him in my mirror holding up his phone with his right hand looking straight into it. I was trying to turn into a driveway but had to bail on the turn and floor it to keep from getting run over. Scared the crap out of me. He saw me about 50 yards off my 6 doin 65-70mph. I was back at that driveway today and the skid marks tell the whole story. ABSOLUTE PANIC! I had my turn signal on for a good distance even tapped my brakes trying to wake him up, he noticed me way too late. If I hadn't been staring at him in my mirror he would have killed me. Hope you don't get hired on anywhere. You have no clue how unsafe you are. Try Dominos, they need drivers.
As you should from some of them. But you did the deed. If getting a dressing down from your peers is the worst that come of this you should thank your lucky stars. Seriously, there are drivers out here who try there double damndest to do things clean leagal and safe, and still find themselves in a bad spot, (accident etc..) and here you are actively ignoring what most here would call common sense. Could you live with yourself if that video had costed someone a life? Thats not hyperbole. Thats reality. Accept your responsibility for your actions and move on. Wether trucking or not. It was, (putting it nicely) a stupid thing to do.
But not the domino's in my neighborhood please. Op got himself a wake up call. Up to him to see this as the time to grow the he ll up moment it is. But considering his responses to others i doubt it.
That's the victim mentality of today's youth. Grown men regognize when we screw up and take our lashes with dignity.
