Are there any O/O running for CRE in this board? The reason I am asking is my DH and I have been looking at what some of the companies pay to O/O that are leased to them. CRE looks pretty darn good compared to others.

We know all about CRE and how things happen to company and L/O drivers, but I don't know as if I've ever read about anything good OR bad for O/O. We own our tractor free and clear so have absolutely NO payments to meet. So if there were any issues not getting loads we wouldn't miss any payments nor have anyone hounding us to HAVE to take a load since the tractor isn't really ours. If they didn't follow through with enough miles we could walk away and go to another company.

We really want to hear from other O/O that are in similar situations as us (with owning our own tractor...or close to doing so...and NOT with payments going to CRE...but someone else!).

Does CRE actually give you enough loads to get the mileage? Are they fair to their O/O's? What are the good and bad things from this angle? Please...Don't warn us to turn and RUN from CRE unless you have worked for them as an O/O! I have heard horror stories from here to eternity and know some folks that have personally taken it in the "shorts" as company and L/O drivers for CRE. I want the perspective (if those folks even exist) from the other end where we are looking at it.:biggrin_25513:

    TIA

Given that you already know all the horror stories, why would you think they are going to treat an owner/operator any differently? Have I ever worked for them? No! I've read, and heard enough about them to know better. If even 50% of the stories are true, that would be enough to keep me from ever wanting to work for them. Good luck, payments or not you will need it.

What company hasn't been negatively posted about several times on here? People who suck at trucking (and there's alot of them) are always going to say their company sucks.

That being said, I've never worked for them.

Although I havent talked to any O/O's to see what their opinion of the company is or how they get treated, I do know they are out there and hopefully you'll get to talk to a few. I could be wrong, but I doubt you'll get to talk to any of them on here. It seems like all the drivers who have positive things to say about the company dont spend a whole lot of time on these forums because Im sure youve already noticed with the few replies already, no one really cares to say anything positive because of all the flaming for saying something good about one of the most hated companies out there.

I'll tell you one thing though, if you own your own tractor and as long as its within CRE's specs(5th-wheel height, under like 20k, under a certain wheel base, ect, ect...), you should make out like a bandit since you wont be having to pay a 500 dollar a week truck payment. I kinda wish I did own this truck for that very reason but once my lease is up, I dont want to pay what they will probly want for it when Im done leasing it.

Unlike all these other hot-air posts, hope this helps.

I have no personal experience with them and never will. Why would you lease to them when there are so many better options. I would never lease for pay per mile. Look for a company with a good reputation that pays percentage. You'll have many more options to increase revenue.

Who are you comparing them with?

I guess when you were little and Mom said the stove was hot you went ahead and put both hands on it.

I can't see how an O/O could make it on the pay that they are offering. LP's, while higher payments, atleast can train and make money at that. But when I was with them they did not allow O/O's to train. Plus you have less of an opportunity for any of the dedicated runs as an O/O. And that is the other area that you can make money.

But take those two things out and I think with FSC you are looking at under $1.40/mile.

Multiple other companies that posted what they pay to O/O...that's who!

Before you make a sarcastic remark without basis, I suggest you look at what O/O's are offered compared to Company drivers...and look in more than 2 or 3 places......

Also...since when was asking a question in an internet forum the same as taking action and following through?:biggrin_25522:

I was always told to LOOK before I leaped....still looking....and NOWHERE near LEAPING!
