Don't be fooled by any company who makes it look like they are footing the bill for "troops to trucks". It is federally sponsored and I believe it is administered at the state level workforce system. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT. Get your training through a private school or community college and don't worry that you don't have a guaranteed hire. You will get hired. Keep an eye out for local companies and apply even if they aren't advertising. The turnover in thus occupation is huge. Good luck and thanks for your service.

I think it's funny CRE has "LEASE TRAIN DRIVE TEAM" on the back of their trailers. That tells me enough to stay far far away. Lease before training? That's brilliant.
-
Not cre. Maverick, millis, prime ANYONE else
-
Don't go to CRE unless you want to eat those little bagged army lunches for the rest of your life. I forget what those are called....

C.R.England is the absolute bottom of the barrel. They will say that not going for their lease scam is OK, but then after you are working there, they punish you for not being a lease driver. The lease itself is as bad of a scam as you can dream of. Stay as far away from these people as possible.
If you are coming out of the military, go to a private driving school. They will know how to get the paperwork done for "Troops to Trucks". Get into the school, and apply yourself. After you are there a while, companies will be offering you work. Don't fall for any company that says they will train you for free, as long as you stay XX months. What happens then is you get the worst loads, and lowest pay, because they know you are not going to leave for the required time. After that time is up, they will find some reason to give you the boot, so they can make room for another scam victim.
There are some very good jobs in the trucking field, but for every 1 good one, there are 1,000 bad ones. Maverick is no prize, but it's a lot better than Prime, or CRE.JNaum Thanks this. -
JNaum Thanks this.

thank you guys for your input!

If possible go to a Community College instead of a private driving school... some of the private ones are just a puppy mill, move 'em out to get the next ones in.

my husband did a cdl training paid for by the gi Bill in WA state two months before his eta. no out of pocket cost to us or need to pay back. when he ets'd he applied to maverick, jb hunt, swift, prime...they all wanted experience, some would hire him but he would not receive any pay for 3-4 weeks (we couldn't afford it at the time). he now works for PAM as a driver manager, I'm thinking of joining cr England.
if your single and u have put up with the military crap you might be able to deal with cr England. but i suggest another route for u, i don't have gi $ to pay for training. maverick will take a while with no experience, they have a crazy waiting list...any tickets disqualify you or accidents because they have a rather large waiting list...if you can be patient and do lots of research. good luck.
