Like i said that was 6 years ago. I went to the Mira Loma, CA school. I had no problems personally at the school or with my OTR trainer, that was still when you did 30 days with a trainer then tested out for your own truck. From what i have heard its like 45-60 days with a trainer now. I can tell you though, when i rode up to SLC they had a guy pick me up and he was telling me that he was a SLC school trainer, he got into it with someone in the office and got two choices get fired or go back OTR to keep a job. I guess he was desperate cause he started driving again, had absolutely nothing in his truck. It was pretty sad. I got my own truck fast but found it sitting in the yard with dead batteries and filthy. The shop jumped it and took it in to check over but i had constant problems with battery drain as the low voltage cut off did not seem to work. My truck would not idle more than 10 min at any outside temp which was a major problem considering i was there from Oct-Jan primarily in the northern 48. They paid for a motel once because i had no heat in the truck but the second time i mentioned it they said i had to get it into SLC to have it looked at, and that never happened. Also i dont know if its a freight shaker thing but i had a major leak somewhere around the windshield or sleeper that allowed water to drip heavily all across the dash of the truck, again not a major concern to them. SLC terminal was ghetto as hell, cant think of any other way to describe it. If your going to the SLC school in winter be ready cause it is one gloomy place. If you have to go to CR to get your license then go and deal with it as best as you can then start looking for another job after a few months and you may luck out, but honestly i have no idea whats going on at all the other companies in this economy.

Going to add another "Lets see how the sentiment is later down the road".

Just 9 months ago I was a starry eyed newb (with a diff company) that wasn't going to let all the bad things said get me down. Things started off well. Enjoyed the CDL school, thought highly of it. Had nothing against my trainer, thought he was a pretty decent guy and a good trainer.

Now, I no longer work for said company (Swift). Turned my truck in a couple days ago. Hindsight was that I should have listened to some of the advice/warning given to me early on. I might have looked a bit harder to find a company that would have been a better fit for me, and I might still be a Truck Driver.

There are times that "Having to see for yourself" is not the best course of action. Some mistakes can leave an exceptionally sour taste in your mouth and color your perspective in a negative light.

All that aside, as every one else says "Best of luck" to you. Just hope that a year from now, we can all come here and read posts from you sayin "Still having a good time...."

Well then, ...... with all the time that you've spent there, up to this moment in time, you'd easily qualify as an expert in your own mind. By now you know everything there is to know about CRE and should be able to easily disprove all of the negative comments from those with less than stellar work ethics.

Nobody in their right mind would dare argue with you now. Judging by what you've managed to do up to this moment in time, there's no tellin' what you're capable of. There are at least 5150 reasons for stayin' outta your way.

    No kiddin'?
    Where does the time go?
Seems like only 90 days ago.
    Three months, you say?
    Man-0-Man, nothing learned, nothing gained.

    Let me guess.
You posses the ability to ignore them all, ...... especially the bad posts with warnings about CRE. Not many folks are able to do that, and glad that they can't.
Why can't we all be as thick as a brick?

Maybe it wasn't easy for you, but rest assured, it comes easy for CRE. Scandalous and ruthless are only two of CRE's assets where they excel beyond all things ethical.

Whatever those reasons were, they should be thankful for those reasons.
Sorta like bein' booted off the bus in the middle of nowhere, and then learning that the bus went another 5 miles and crashed over a cliff. Kinda puts thangs into perspective.
    Ya reckon.

So, you're sayin' those at CRE who arranged for such undesirable people to come to orientation lacking the necessary qualifications aren't the brightest bulbs on the billboard? Or, are you sayin' they're very clever by givin' 'em false hope and a bill to pay for orientation that was worthless for the wannaBees who become rejectaBees?

I can't be certain how "moral" you are, but there's no doubt in my feeble mind that you're a "character."
I bet they were glad to see your bank account number(s) and current balance on deposit right up front. That gives them an incentive and motivates them to convince you that you won't be needin' a bank account on account of you won't have anything to deposit after CRE demonstrates how to withdraw all funds and transfer the proceeds to another, more secure, CRE vault, --- inaccessible for all except the powers that be CRE, all accomplished on line, quick and easy.

CRE's compassionate concern and their eagerness to be supportive and helpful never ceases to amaze me. The size of their collective heart is as big as the Montana sky. What a great group of fine folks to be in bed with.
    Oh MY!
You know that they video tape persuasive behavior and sell it for Big bucks on the internet, ....... right? They've come a long ways since Chester started the company with only one hole drilled through the powder room wall. All pleasure and no profit though.

You pulled a gun on 'em?:smt071
Without their metal detectors and armed guards they're caught with their pants down every time.

    They DID?!
Now that right thar just blows me away.

I wouldn't let that information be known.
CRE isn't real keen on hard workers. Hard workers tend to succeed and success isn't as profitable for the Sons of Chester as drivers who fail.

The only hard workers retained by CRE are those who have difficulty with reasoning, logic and common sense. If that's the situation, the future looks a tad brighter.
With all the drivers gettin' booted or runnin' out the revolving door for myriad reasons, that should leave plenty of room for you to continue with your "very persuasive behavior".
The good thang about CRE is that they don't really care what kind of person(s) they hire. It doesn't matter because the vast majority hired won't be there three months later, like you. To CRE, they're all the same, be they puppy kickers, pranksters, malcontents, father rapers or purse snatchers, as long as they're ignorant and gullible, it's all good.
I hear ya there, I do.
Behind the wheel is preferable to being under the wheel of a bus CRE threw ya under.

    Can you imagine that?
    What nerve!

    What gall!
    What impudence!
    How unrealistic they are.
Just because a CRE recruiter guaranteed they'd be hired for sure, is that supposed to actually mean anythi
ng? What a bunch of trusting fools! They deserve what they got. That'll teach 'em how far trust will git 'em.
    Do tell.
I think we can handle what's twue.
    Clue us in.
    Say it ain't so!
But, .............. I'm a highly skilled, well seasoned, professional Big truck truck driver with a pristine drivin' record with over a million mile markers in my back pocket. Surely they're desperate to hire me, ............. aren't they?
    ReallY?!
    I don't feel desperate.
    Do I look desperate?
By golly, ....... that's good to know.
All this time I thought that feelin' I have is contentment.
    Go figure.
    Remember what?
    And yet they hired you?
Hmmmmmm ------ I'm not convinced that they're not desperate.

I've been told that CRE is the lowest of the bottom-feeders and routinely scrapes the bottom of the barrel attempting to dredge up the best of the best at the very bottom.

With all your experience there, what do you think?
(If you don't answer that, I'll understand. With so many drivers there being reprimanded for thinkin', you'd be wise to remain mum.)

You mean able to sit behind the wheel in truck stops and rest areas in the middle of nowhere, waitin' for SOMEone to remember they even exist and are waitin' for a dispatch?
    Why day doo dat?
Drivin' for CRE is depressing enough. I pity the ones who are hired while carrying excess baggage and all pre-depressed already, --- even before the bovine excrement hits the fan.
    In that order, no doubt.
You figured all that out in just three months?

    HeY, WaiT a minute.
    What about retired folks?
They already made their money and now they're spendin' their kid's inheritance. And what about housewives who stay behind to keep the home fires burnin' while hubby is out makin' bacon?

    Or me?
I'm just here for the entertainment.

Threads like this make my day.
    After all, laughter is therapeutic.
When I started readin' this thread I was achy all over, my feet were smelling and my nose was runnin' --- I felt like I was built up-side down, or sumthin' --- and now, a
fter readin' what'cha wrote ------ the only way I could feel any better is if I was twins.

Once they arrive at CRE, it doesn't take 'em too long to reach that conclusion though. That's when they realize that they've been had. That is, unless their IQ is in the double digits.

Probably due to your "very persuasive behavior."
That'll tend to keep 'em happy.
BTW, were you able to teach them anything?

I'd seek professional help to explain the reason(s) for your displeasure.
You never know, ........ it might be a phobia. Fear of bosses. What a disaster that would be if you leased a Big truck and became your own boss, only to fear yourself.
    Bummers!
    :sad1:

    Thanx.
I was wishin' someone would wish me best.
But that would deprive the millions of readers following your progress of the therapeutic benefits contained herein. You wouldn't wanna do that, would you?
I reckon it's good to plan ahead, just in case you find yourself on the road :walk:instead of being in a Big truck. With CRE, the chances of that happening are extremely good. Even likely.
You're not wearing those rose colored glasses :glasses7: that CRE hands out to everyone who comes through their revolvin' doors, are you? Probably doesn't matter now anyway. By the sound of your post, CRE has already washed your brain efficiently and thoroughly. Nuthin' to be concerned about now, 'cept maybe shrinkage. :smt108
Or falling off the edge of the world, ........ gone in a flash.
    Just like that.
    :hello2: :smt100

I hope it goes well for me as it is going for you. I like your positive attitude. You give me hope that it won't be so bad. I'm going to orientation Monday Aug 30th. I'm looking forward to this. My only concern is the chance of them giving me the boot just because I won't partake in their lease program. If they'll accept me as a company driver, I'll have no problems working as a team. I just hope that's the case.

:biggrin_25524: I could understand people that go to CRE who haven't read this forum; But, I don't comprehend anybody who makes that same decision after posting on this or any other CRE thread.
