Young sir I would love to but I would be here all day and I have to drive 400 miles to Missouri to buy a new truck.
Firstly let me say this, you have shown GREAT intelligence finding this forum and reaching out for help. Extremely wise.
I have written extensively on this forum about CR England. All you have to do is use the search system.

Just remember that this is merely your start not the be all and end all.
6 months is all you need to get on with somebody else. Your next company will almost certainly make you run around with a trainer again for a few weeks but you will be paid and it will be the gateway into a much better pasture called freedom.
Keep some things clearly in the front of your mind with CRE. Don't lose sight of reality because they will try to keep you on one leg.

Just about everything they tell you is either an out and out lie or bent out of all proportion. This includes 'lecturers', office workers and absolutely everybody they will wheel in front of you during 'training' - which is painful. Even Kip - who is a nice guy - is full of it.

Be quiet. Don't give anything away. We have a plan right?

During 'training' be cooperative and go with the flow. You have already been trained and do not need anybody to tell you how to drive a truck. However you will need to know the correct lane to use at a Walmart DC and the proper way to transflo.

Bear in mind the 1st 3 week 'training' stint is for you to provide cheap labor, give another trucker an ego boost and gather some real life experience.

Bear in mind that the 2nd 3 week "CAT" stint is for you to provide cheap labor and give CRE an opportunity to keep some poor sap who leased (and is hanging in there by his fingernails) hopeful and of some use to them for a few more months. NOTE CAREFULLY HOW I WORDED THIS.

Finally you will get your own truck (not necessarily a clunker). This will give you an opportunity to provide cheap labor. Your runs will all be long because that way they will be able to pay you the barest minimum. 26c / mile when I was there.

Don't complain, keep your head down, low profile. Don't argue, remember you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
Then just as the martians in "The War of the Worlds" slowly draw your plans in secret. Soon as you have something solid take off like a rat out of an aqueduct. WOOF!! Gone!

Lastly forget about CRE which should be easy because you never took them seriously in the first place. Good luck my friend and God speed."

"Forgot to mention office workers and recruiters are not only arrogant, heartless and often unhelpful they are also completely incompetent.
Don't take anything for granted.
If you provided some valuable paperwork during recruitment take it with you. They WILL lose it.
One guy I came across was sent home to NYC for a piece of paper. They lost my tax return TWICE! Good job I had it with me or it would have been back to S. FL.

BTW
CRE is the only company I have come across that has airport style barricades and metal detector arches with an armed security guard at the entrance to its 2 office complexes. You have to empty your pockets as you enter and all knives are looked after. Makes you think doesn't it?

Back when the company was originally formed by Chester England do you think that equipment was there ?? What prompted this??"

 

Final words before I hit the road.
Do not go to CRE if possible. I think you already did but this can go in the databanks for some guy in the future.
CRE are bottom feeders in this industry there isn't an experienced trucker out there who would say anything in their favor. They swamp the glossy mags with attractive ads to sucker in hopefuls. They then prey on those people in a way that is so heartless that it reminds me of the way humans were treated as they entered Auschwitz.
When I went there I used them not the other way around. I had my CDL already and just needed to weedle my way back into the industry so I could get on with a decent company.
At the 6 month mark I zoomed over to Crete. Didn't look back.
I can't speak highly enough of Crete. Being a company driver sucks but if you can get on with Crete you have pretty much reached the top of the tree and that isn't saying much.
Here is what you can expect at CR England.
No home time.
Rude dispatchers.
No money.
Truck problems.
Treated as if you were in the military.
Stupid 'safety' bs.
Arrogant trainers and staff in general.
Used like an old dishrag and thrown away.
Drained of every ounce of patience, tolerance and optimism.

Please learn early on that you are nothing. Just a speck of dirt blowing through and completely expendable. Now it has to be said that although England are without a doubt the worst Transam, Werner, Swift, Prime and every single company that "trains" are scum.
I could write a massive post regarding what you SHOULD do but it would take too long.
Make your plans to escape CRE as soon as you possibly can. Do not stay. Come back here and post your story. Keep this thread alive.
Take my advice and see about signing on with Crete. They now accept 'graduates' from training schools. They will treat you right. Everything from accomodation to decent pay and being treated like a person not a bucket of poop.
Trust me my young buddy. I am not lying. I am experienced and much older than you. I know my way around as does Chinatown.

I agree. Problem is, @EternalHopez is in a bad situation and needs some quick relief. Hopefully, Roehl can squeeze him in their next class.

CR England.....Again

In my opinion CR England is the worst of the mega carriers, and there is a huge gap between them and the next worst carrier. I spoke with one driver who was an lp. He had been netting $400 a week. I asked why he became an lp there. He told me they didnt have any company positions after he finished his training, so it could take up to 1 month to find a truck, but if he wanted to start now he could get in an lp truck. A guy, who has not driven a single revenue mile, only training miles with a trainer, being put in the position of independent contractor! I realize other carriers do it too, but those chumps have earned enough to survive.

After that, I have researched as much as I can on this company in order to prevent aspiring drivers like you from getting stuck working for that outfit. This forum has individual threads for most major motor carriers, so you can look at the yourself. The only props i can give is that they fired a driver who was filming himself doing recovery work. He filmed himself driving hands free for a considerable distance, so they let him go.

 

You are making a VERY wise decision. Roehl are infinitely better than CRE. Roehl are a little old womanish but the odds are way more in your favor. If you need anything reach out to me.
To the other guys out there:-
You know it frosts my butt that the industry takes advantage of young people like this fellow. They cry and moan about lack of capacity caused by a mystery driver shortage and then feed on new guys like cannibals.
Is it any wonder that there is turnover rate over 100%. I planned my re-entry back into trucking from electrical engineering carefully and I made CRE a deliberate stepping stone. I too was in a bind but I had knowledge.
Until the federal and state governments start HELPING young hopefuls we are never going to get anywhere. If it is left to the CREs they will continue to be used like cattle.
This talk of auto trucks is just that talk. It takes a butt in a seat.
This young man is the future. We need him. He isn't a resource he is a person.
I hope he makes it ok.
