Werner has a few that pay 26, but that's only in specific areas. It's really uncommon not to be able to make 29cpm on a dedicated...I'm pretty sure that swift has the same thing. I know even CREbgland has them, but I wouldn't recommend CR England even if you could get a dedicated.

Best thing is to talk to placement and see what each company has available. I know Werner will offer several accounts depending on where you are...no reason you can't call around to different companies to try and find a dedicated.

Swift typically pulls out a cent or two on dedicated. Some accounts also pull out the sliding scale. Others reduce the accessory pay. Almost all eliminate the layover pay.

Swift claims you are not eligible for a dedicated account as a new driver, but the 'right' person will land a cherry dedicated right off the bat. They tell even experienced drivers and rehires that they have to run OTR for six months before applying to dedicated account. That rule is broken all the time if you fit the right category of person.

If I were the OP I would look elsewhere for employment. After 160 hours of training you just have to ask yourself if this job is for you. Overall the impression people get of this job from training, is much more optimistic then the job actually is. Training seems to leave the impression on drivers that the trucking world is easier than it is. If you have a hard time with training you are best to move on with other options.

Honestly, most students show up without even googling what trucking really is. I mean, some of them dont even understand that this is an over-the-road job... they spend weeks on the road in training, with the idea that they will be home every night. And the recruiters didnt tell them that, they tried to tell the company! This has happened to me twice, where Ive trained guys who then proceed to assume they will be home every night. Even after being told their options by our placement department, theyll be like "Im gonna have a day cab and be home every night!"... Ummmm that wasnt one of the options they gave you man...

Another thing is that a lot of students dont even consider that they will be staying out two weeks at a time. Like... they never even thought about how they would make things work with their family, how they would run things from the truck, ect.

In other words, the reason for failure is that people dont even think about what they are getting themselves into. Ive not had a single student in the last year who has understood even the most basic things about what he will be required to do. I have no idea why, because I knew everything... because I was told by the school and the recruiter.

Im not exactly sure why they cant get it, after school, recruiters, weeks of training, and then talking to placement. Its like they just randomly make decisions and hope for the best. Well, its not "like"... it is. Just randomly making decisions... the new "American way". Basically the method of anybody doing anything anymore. And we wonder why we produce crappy cars and companies are in total disarray. If it wasnt for the competition being just as inept, they wouldnt stand a chance.

Well heck, it can't be all bad at England, that's what got me going way back in 1997. And I'm still going strong. Their school was pretty good, but to be honest after that, it was pretty much slave labor. Started at 21c per mile........yikes!!!
As I'm now an O/O it has stood me in good stead, fond memories.......LOL
    as usual though, YMMV

Southern Refrigerated has a giid school. Everything is part of the contract, all fees, lodging, food....you show up with a quarter in your pocket and it still be there when you graduate. I just went solo with them and up until this weekend I.have been rolling nonstop.....

I got my start with Prime. Their training program is excellent. All the big carriers get badmouthed a lot, but if you can't get financing for a school and need training with no up front expenses, your options are somewhat limited. I went through Prime in 2011 so I'm sure pay/qualifications, etc. have changed, but I thought it was good program.
