Cracked axle housing.

    Pretty sure welding them will work just fine, and if done correctly and time is taken to do it right it will last a very long time. I don't think the housings are cast, they are welded together as it is. We have done hundreds with this same problem and they are still working the trucks to this day

    I had a pair of old SSHD Rockwell housings I scrapped last summer. They were indeed stamped steel and the 2 halves welded together. The only cast component was the removeable differential carrier.
