Hmm, you'd think so, but probably the only raise they'll get is more air in the seat. Actually, it should be part of the drivers job to notice things like this, an attaboy( or girl), even billboard worthy, but I doubt a raise is coming.

This stuff never broke like that in the past and you see it a lot these days, but I’m not sure steel quality is the cause. I think it is the fact that abs on trucks has made it to where drivers just push the peddle hard to the floor with every stop. Let the abs system control truck and Application psi goes high and causes compounding. Back before abs you operated light on the peddle or you locked up and slid.

Back when I had a manual I usually only touched the brakes when I was waiting for lights it felt like. I think automatics made people rely too heavily on brakes.

See it a lot in logging and oilfield up here. The support brackets from axle to tube on the Eaton diffs with AG200 and 400 suspension would break all the time.SmallPackage Thanks this.

Does it just stick out further to clear suspension components? I'd imagine if it were longer the weight of the brake components on top of the torque it deals with could be an issue. Rough roads on unsprung components will put it to work for sure.

Yes. That too. Trans kicking into neutral when coming to a stop under 20 mph means all brakes.
