Got a 2001 KW T600 with 8 rear air bag chassis. There is a big crack in the frame on top of driver side leaf spring hanger front ofcourse. 2inches apart from the the motor mount. I liked the pre emission series 60 in it, that is why i wanted to keep thetruck alive. Being in Canada, there is no glider options no more. Can fish plating be an option or its time to scrap it out?

New frame will cost around 10k, as my mechanic told me. I know some people weld them if its not too bad, but I dont know how safe that is

The way they fixed the crack on my old KW, they welded the cracked and put sleeved the inside with frame. I think it was like a 6’ section they added inside. It reinforced the frame also. Never cracked again.

A good shop can weld and reinforced frames. Look for a place that stretches trucks they will help you out.

I got 2 flatbed trailers 1999. And both frames have cracks all over that have been patched up with new steel stronger than ever.

Not the end of the world. My Western Star frame cracked right in front of the 5th wheel. 1st time, a crummy repair shop didn't use a long enough inner channel and the weld cracked again. 2nd shop used a longer channel, bolted and welded, problem solved. Changing frame rails is a big job.

Gliders are still being built here
    Call st Catherine's freightliner
    12 ga customs as well.

My only concern is the e test. New vehicle exempt for 7 years or until it changes ownership then it requires e test. Which a truck titled as a 2018 needs to meet 2018 emissions. It does not go by engine model year. So maybe when it is 7 years old if you can find a way to register it in a province that does not have any e test in order to get irp plates you can probably run it forever. Or sell to usa.

You could just slide a new frame in too. You can get them pre drilled or just get blanks and go to town drilling. Hopefully you have a mag drill if you'll be doing it yourself!

That’s one wicked crack. Did they weld it before they sleeved it ? Looks good but why didn’t they sleeve it from the inside ? Would of looked cleaner. That’s how they did my K100.
