Put Alliance cheapo's ( $61 ) in Casper three years ago, they work like a champ.
Just bought deep cycles for Blackie ( $91 ). I'll let you know in three years.Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt and Speed_Drums Thank this. -
Dang! $238 apiece, grand total of about $1050 with tax after turning in cores.
I got 6 months out of my cheap dealership FLA's this time around. First ones lasted 1.5 years, second lasted one year, third (just replaced) lasted 6 months. I'm not liking this trend, had to try something else.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
4 batteries, and they are not agm, just flooded dual purpose. I had agm's in my volvo 780 and couldn't get 2 winters out of them.Rideandrepair, 86scotty and bumper Jack Thank this.

This summer I went with the dual purpose batteries as well. During Xmas when the truck sat, I put my new charger on them. Unfortunately, I wasn't wearing my glasses when I set the charge rate. When I came back to the truck about a week later I learned that I had set the charger on trickle for an AGM type. Now I'm wondering if I did some damage.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Apples to oranges because our T680 has the EPU setup, but four and a half years and 400+K miles and still on the factory starter batteries and EPU batteries.
Probably time to trade....

I doubt it. Putting them on trickle only surely helped them and wouldn't hurt. Overcharging and frying them would be much worse IMO.spindrift and Rideandrepair Thank this.

My understanding is the dual purpose flooded batteries recharge much quicker, making them good for running an inverter, or frequent starts. The AGMs are obviously much better. Still too expensive to me. Not cost effective, in a Truck. The problem I found is any flooded dual purpose over a 750cca is too expensive. My Trucks have only had 3 batteries. Just replaced 3 TRP, from Peterbilt. They lasted 2.5 yrs. The shortest time ever. Can’t find out who makes TRP. I’m guessing they’re the same as Interstate made by Johnson Control. Others from Deka, or Alliance, made by Deka have always served me better. I put 3 950 cca, 180 res. amp starting Battery Duracell Brand (Deka) from Batteries Plus. Same Alkiance batteries they sell at Freightliner. At $115 each, probably payed too much. Dealer was closed. Time will tell, how long they last, now that I’ve been using an inverter. I run the Truck when using coffee maker. Fridge constantly on. I suspect I killed the old batteries, just recently after installing the inverter. Also wondering if my alternators life will be shortened. I haven’t carried a spare in years. Used to be an annual thing. New brushless Delco’s last me 3-4 yrs easy. I haven’t carried one, because I’ll lose the 1 yr free replacement warranty by the time I use it. Maybe it’s time to replace it, and carry the old one for emergencies.

I put the Duracell dual purpose from Batteries us in the truck this summer. Time will tell. Using an inverter and fridge destroys starting batteries.

So I just went online to order these
Plus an online order of 10% off
I couldn’t get it to place an order for 4. Said to call store
Do that. Store needs me in person to do and says no discount for those batteries
I go back to online
Find 3 at another location near me. Order and it gives me the 10% discount
Went back and ordered the 4th one from same store and it accepts it and with the discount again
Hopefully it pans out. It already rang my card for it all so it should???
I wanted to get the Maxwell thing but I don’t have time to be rewiring my starter. Maybe down the road I’ll add that?Siinman and RedForeman Thank this.
