Bad crash? Welcome to trucking. We see it every other day. If I'm the 1st one there, I stop, render what small assistance I can etc (CPR). If there's already people stopped, I say the Atheist's prayer: (Man, I sure hope you folks are ok) and drive on. I have miles to make.

I saw worse stuff as a reporter than I've ever even contemplated seeing driving truck, and I've both stopped and driven by some pretty horrific stuff. Fact is, there are 40k+ traffic deaths a year in this country and if you're driving 120k a year +, you're going to see more than you want to.

Think good thoughts, or if you're a praying person, say a prayer. And NEVER leave someone alone and unassisted. I've missed some appts stopping for a crash right in front of me and I don't care. Even if all you can do is hold someone's hand as they die, it's a big deal. No one should ever have to die alone. It costs me little enough.

And some of the ones we have seen in the past, just a few seconds to click the seatbelt in a car makes all the difference in the world. I know that no one starts their day out thinking I am going to die this day, but it happens.
