Not a lot of securment on that load as well.
Think it would be wise to give this thing a lot of room.

20171012_035035.jpg This is a load that is pre loaded on a pos trailer at a steel yard. Of the 6 chains securing this load, this is the only one that is tight or does not have a kink in it. Also take note of the beam that is sitting inside the top. From picture view it appears that the dunnage board is resting on that beam, but it is not. That beam is free floating waiting to bounce out on someones car. Speaking of the dunnage, you have to bring a bow saw with you to this place because they cut the dunnage boards to 125" so they stick past the edges of the bent beat up rub rails in hopes that you won't see the cracked welds in the steak pockets or the holes in the rotted out deck boards. Of course every load needs checked, but it gets old having to fix other peoples f ups. The company I drive for lost 4 drivers this week. 3 for BS loads like this that don't pay the drivers anything among other reasons like being fed a big line of BS from the powers that be.

Don't know too many shippers that will take the time to actually secure and tighten the load for you.

These things really piss me off. Both the shipper and the carrier are knowingly sending dangerous loads out on the highway.

Securment of these loads are the least of worries. I know upon arrival to hook up, I'm going to have to secure the load. The major problems are the condition of trailers them selves and having to move beams in excess of 500 + pounds by hand at early morning hours like 1am 2am etc. As the driver it's my responsibility for the equipment once I hook up and move off the property. Every single one of these loads are nail biters. I have had chains snap, binders come apart, steak pockets bend off welds and beams fall right through the deck. To refuse a load gets you in a bad spot with the company. I think my big reason for this post is hopefully to show people some things to be aware of and also answer questions like what are some reasons drivers leave companies. I called dispatch on the load prevents to this one and the answer I got was if we don't haul that and get it delivered we will loose that contract

One has to remember a few real and true facts.
should you take a load out on the road with known problems. Damaged or otherwise unsafe equipment, incorrectly loaded or secured cargo, should something come off the trailer YOU the driver will be held responsible for that. you get to pay the fines and costs, and you get to go to jail.

Exactly. Your license is your paycheck in this industry. Don't understand anyone that knowingly drives that crap down the highway....
