So I checked into a customer and was asked to park over next door and then they’d let me in. I creeped over to the customer and got on a public road way. Literally was next door and now my carrier is giving me a verbal warning. The part that alarms me. This was over 30 days ago. I having a theory I’m being retaliated by the logs department due a disagreement with a logs department employee yesterday. I’m looking for people’s opinions on this matter and what I can do in return.

By creep u mean like roll around at 4.75 mph to not trip the elog ? #### em , they don't have to deal with the bs. I'd tell em to pound sand and find something more valuable to do with their time... I do it almost every place I go to.. some places get a hair up their ### about it. Or other drivers do too.. I give em all the same treatment.

A-hole planner and dispatcher gave me a load that delivered at 2100 even though my day started at 0400 and I already stopped my clock once: "See if they'll unload early(they won't) and if not, we'll reschedule the appointment"(two days later according to the online reviews). Edited the logs to change the first off-duty time to a few minutes of on-duty time so I could stop my clock again. Then I had to creep all the way in and out and back in to the DC to not start my clock again. Got unloaded then I had enough time to make it to the Gearjammer where I had to pay for parking. But we don't need a union.

Why are you worried about a verbal warning?
Tell them to put it in writing in a document that both parties have to sign, detailing the entire chain of events that led up to the warning - or shut their trap.

I don’t quite understand the point of putting it all in writing ?

You say that your carrier is giving you a verbal warning. But it isn't the carrier, it is someone in the office yelling at you.
They are pulling your strings and pushing your buttons to get you to do what they want you to do.

And if you have to creep a quarter mile to make your logs work, they are doing a pretty good job of turning you into a monkey slave.
Either that, or you just have no clue how to manage your time.
Or you have no clue how to say NO to a load that leaves you in that situation.

Making them put it in writing, and detailing things, puts them in an awkward position because it puts it on the official record in your file.
That is something that can be used to your advantage if a lawyer is needed. They really hate putting anything in writing. They would rather intimidate you with useless talking and yelling.

You might need to learn how to say no, to manage your time to your advantage, to control things in a way that is best for you.
The thing you might not realize and that they do not like is that... you are in control of what you do and how you do it.

On the other hand, you never said what the disagreement with the logs department person was about that might have led to some retaliation.

Oh, the small and large details that go into a good story line. They make all the difference, don't they?

Legally, you aren't supposed to use on duty driving (yard move) to traverse public roads. If that is what you did, then this is what the fuss is about.

If you were creepin' around in sleep berth, and a fuss was made, then I'm surprised because I've done that a hundred times without any mention.

In my opinion, and I know you and others were waiting with baited breath for my opinion, office folks shouldn't become so emotionally charged over such actions as yours.

Seriously? Does anyone know what the PC function do? Ok….easy to understand. U were at the receiver. You went to the taco truck. You came back. You went to dinner/lunch/whatever. So…what’s the problem? I f’n hate when people creep around not knowing they can actually drive and not be hanging everyone up.

Kind of a double edged sword. While creeping in sleeper berth is technically wrong, it won’t raise eyebrows on a roadside inspection, since it’ll just show the vague ‘3.4 miles southeast of Bangkok’ on the log info for the inspection view. The more detailed logs, in an audit situation, will show that someone was creeping about when it shows the latitude and longitude coordinates though.

PC’ing 500 feet away, 5 minutes after checking in for a live unload, could raise an eyebrow with DOT in a routine inspection. And some companies don’t offer PC

The creeping does get old at times though lol. Nothing worse than someone trying to creep a mile down the road or creeping through a truck stop at 2mph to save 23 seconds of drive time.
