Ok so let me see if I understand this right. You were fired from a trucking job? and the person who fired you didn't talk to you about it? I'm confused.

I spoke with a woman in the application department about my firing from a non trucking job. I haven't driven for a living since '87. She mentioned the person's name (I forgot it) that made the decision. I never spoke with him. Only other person I talked to was the recruiter.
Sorry for the confusion. -
I feel your pain Rug. I've been getting that a lot in the last month. Personally, I think it's a stupid policy and these companies are missing out on some potentially good and faithful employees all because someone at the previous company may have had a grudge or something. I'm not saying that everyone who has ever been fired is innocent in the situation, but there are some who were dealt a bad hand. I'm aout ready to get a job at Mcdonalds for a month so I can quit and get beyond this stupid policy!

I picked up a load today out of West Chicago,IL with a final destination of Miami,FL. However, I was told to take the load to a railyard in Jacksonville,FL.. I'm guessing it is cheaper to rail it down to Miami and back than it is to deadhead out of Miami. Just another new experience.
Left home Monday and when I deliver in J'ville Saturday evening I will have 3229 paid miles with about 10hrs available for Sunday to turn some more miles.
I have a cousin that drives for DeBoer, and according to his dispatcher, there is already enough freight booked in their system to keep all their trucks busy till the first of the year. So, I'm sure it will be the same for us Cretians. -
I do have a prehire at Werner. I have a call into Milan I am going to do an online app this morning.

Don't count on it. Atlanta is dead right now. So are the Carolinas. Things are slowing down in E. Pa. again, too. I was in Atlanta last Friday and Chad said he was 150 loads short. I am going back tomorrow and dispatch told me things are no different than they were then. I truly believe that we are going to be worse off this winter than we were last winter. The economy is worse, govt run health care is right around the corner and we have a president who couldn't care less. -
It took an hour or so but I was sent a load offer. A whopping 2716 mile run up to Seattle, WA. My longest run of the year and at first glance it looked good. BUT it only took a second to realize that it didn't deliver until the Wednesday the 9th and it was only Thursday. So although it has great miles it will end up taking 7 days to do it.
My initial plan was to go ahead and accept the load and get started in the general direction and take a shot at Tcalling the load in Denver or Cheyenne along the way. I wasn't feeling all that confident about it but thought I'd give it a shot, but freight is hurting up there too, so I'm still under the load.
I ran out of hours at Boise and am doing my reset. That will leave me with a little over 500 miles for Tuesday and a delivery on Wednesday. If it were a morning delivery I would be set, but it's a two stopper with appointment deliveries of 1:30 and 6pm. So Wednesday will be shot and I have a very uncomfortable feeling that I might get stuck up there for a day or more waiting to get a load out.
So this could turn into a really rough week, I'll just hope for the best.
As for last week, I said something last Thursday as to the effect of "the weekend will make or break my week" since I was sitting with 1500 miles at that time. Well, I ended the week with 3700+ miles. That was after last weeks miles of 2644. I'll have to wait and see how next week works out, but I can't imagine it will be all that great because I will be sitting in Seattle on Wednesday night with 500 miles and little hope of getting a load out any time soon. Hope I'm wrong.Rattlebunny Thanks this. -
