The air problem sounds like either a governor or the air compressor itself. If it's the compressor...you may be a while since it's driven off the bull gear, and on a DD13/15, that is at the back of the engine instead of the front like the old Series 60.

When I got to Detroit, guy took a quick listen and is....guessing....it's the spitter valve. But we all know the "rest of the story" syndrome!

That is a good sign because many times a spitter valve problem (a.k.a. an unloader) is a sign of a governor problem that overworks the spitter. The trucks that we love to park next to that spit every 30 seconds is a bad governor...you may be in luck
The oil leak on the other hand....may not be such a good thing, but at least you're not in an International...who's shops don't open on the weekend and who's parts are regularly on back-order.

Guy was optimistic about getting it done late tomorrow. The oil leak issue is about an eight-hour ordeal, and the air of course is pending. I'm still going to hate to retire this unit....got maybe 5 months left with it.

Best wishes to you 48.... air leaks are a pain in the neck.... just to figure out where the air is leaking... wish I were nearby and could visit you... I have good ears to detect air leaks... and a stethoscope....

It sounds like under the cab, almost dead-center. Brakes hold pressure, but air never builds to the cut-off pressure.

That definitely sounds like the unloader hung up. Should me a quick fix, there is a rebuild kit that doesn't cost an arm and a hoof...and it is simple enough that even a company shop could do (yours or ours). Surprised they didn't attempt it before sending you to the dealer.

I think the wild card may have been the oil leak...but given I had to re-re-explain the symptoms to the tech.....I'm not too surprised.

Dispatched spoiled me the last 4 weeks with unproductive freight.
I left home Saturday with another pokey load, and I didn't bother to get close to the receiver and I left out early for my afternoon live unload. I expected a 400 mile run that delivered Tuesday afternoon.
    But...
They must have put me on the big boys board again.
First preplan, a 1200 plus mile run that couldn't deliver on time no matter what. It was preloaded since Friday.
Second preplan, a 630 miler with a 200 deadhead. No can do with my 14 ticking.
But today I get a 1100 miler for early Wednesday. So back to work for a couple of days.

i have this feeling that not repowering a load during my home time last month, which would have made me leave a day early and I would have swapped with a driver living in my "area" at some point??
I've dealt with that woman before and she is shrewd, but who knows.

Finally getting out of the Pacific time zone! Picking up here in SLC heading to Iowa for a Thursday delivery. I will get to hit my favorite terminal-Cheyenne for an overnight stay and then Lincoln. They added the Blue Beacon at York to our list so I may get this beast washed on the way by. Two days of rain forcast between now and then though. Heading to Arlington, IA to a place with no directions in the system. So I call them up and they seem like nice folk. I googled satt'ed them and noticed a nice dirt lot so I asked about overnight parking "Sure thing, have at it!" So yet another quite night of parking.

Two days at the SLC terminal and my truck's been in the shop the whole time. So what happens this morning? The service writer comes out and says "This trk needs a computer update" :biggrin_2552: "It's been in the shop since Saturday" I say. Not sure why they didn't do it then but oh well! It only took 30 min.s so no big deal. I did get all new drive tires so "Hello 63MPH" whoop whoop :biggrin_25526:
