Nothing to complain about? For new people who don't know any better, maybe. It's not a good company, but probably no worse than most large dry van companies.
As far as reaching out to 'veterans'.....they're must trying to fill truck seats. They spend more time and money trying to recruit new people, than they do making the people who have worked for them, for years, happy. Put out some press releases, slap some stickers on a truck, and they probably are getting some federal funds for 'retraining' veterans.
Hire new people who are at the bottom of the pay tier, and ignore the people who have been there for years.
And yes, I'm a veteran.

Looks like i am going to crete i was shocked at first cause couldnt find a school in my area but after speaking with the recruiter and his boss they are gonna make an exception and let me choose a school by me and use my military trucker experience and let me come to work that is awesome i really like them so far
-
I know lots of happy crete drivers out there. Talk to em at the truck stops all the time.
-
They're probably the ones trying to earn the recruiting bonus, new drivers, or drivers who don't expect much. ^^^^
-
I talk to recruiter at crete said because i am a truckdriver in the army i can be hired for that experience and i am getting to go to a school that isn't on there list but it is 160 hrs and it goes through the va and department of labor i don't know if i got lucky or if it is bs but they haven't fudged the truth to much i did talk to the main boss of recruiting and they are very interested in me as i am them if you have military tractor trailer experience they may work with you on this as well

I worked for Crete for many years. I think they are a good choice for new drivers compared to many other companies. They do have drawbacks. But you can certainly do worse. And many drivers stay for years. But truckin' ain't what it used to be. More and more rules and regulations. Less freedom. Many drivers make a decent living at Crete.

I'm starting school next week, but not one on their approved list and the rec. just told me I'd need to gain a minimum of 4 months with another carrier before I would be considered. Seems like a pretty good company from what I've seen.

$55k driving hard or "safe and legal on paper only"??
$41k drivng legal and mostly safe or driving hard?
$36k drivng 9-5 or workin your azoff loadin-unloading??
Total weeks at home: 2? 3? 7? 11?
I'll go with Crete if i can work 77 days strait - 13 off; $0.41 cpm, 2400-2700 mpw, idle all i deem necccesary, speed gov @65cruise-67pedal, 48 state, 2pm-4am, 34 every 21days. I'll take a co-driver if he accepts to keep his mouth shut all the time. - I need minimum $45k and cush benies to keep trucking as my lifestyle; I want $63 - 70k to retire in 7 to 11 years. -
Fly back into Indy and go to the yard to check in with Donna and give her her souvenir. Get the truck ready for next day departure and then run the maximum amount of miles possible for the next 10-11 weeks. Even though I was out of Indy, I picked up mail in Laramie so about every 3 week I would call Donna up and tell her to put a message on my truck saying I needed a load thru Laramie to pick up mail.
Come about week 10, I would buy plane tickets to where to where I wanted to go next and Donna would put a message on my truck saying i needed to be back in Indy on a specific date and that I could not miss that date because of the plane tickets. I always gave myself a couple of days leeway but I never actually needed it.
So I was essentially taking 4 vacations a year and my last 2 years I made over 65k at Crete. Draw your own conclusions. -
I averaged about 2700 miles / week. Took off as much time as I wanted ( I own a truck ).
Starting wage depends on experience. 48 states pay rate: less than 1 year exp. $ .34/mile. 1 year: $ .40/mile and more years will lead to higher starting wage. If you go dedicated or home weekly, your rate is about 2 - 3 cents lower.
Crete runs legal. I think they are gonna go 100 percent eobr. At Crete, it's Crete's way or the highway. You do things their way.
Many drivers run 120k miles per year . Multiply that by the pay rate plus you will earn some other pay for stops or a rare driver unload.
