Well the day didn't go as ###### as I thought it was going to so I guess I will count that as a win:) Dropped my trailer at the Target DC early this morning in Albany, OR and unfortunately got a load picking up in Longview, WA where I picked up last week but the load assignment said ready at 0-0300 Monday. The other message was short freight of course. I decided to roll the dice and shoot on up there as last week there were several Crete trailers loaded when I picked mine up so I was hoping that would be the case today with an early loaded one. Unfortunately the only Crete one loaded was being pulled away by another driver so I parked there around noon hoping to see one towed out to the gravel lot but all I saw was a string of Knight trailers being brought out. Finally around 1900 a Crete was hauled out and as I was checking to see if it was mine the yard man said that was the last trailer coming out until Monday around 0800 as they didn't work the overnight shift. I checked the load and it was going to the same place as mine (Buena Park, CA where I delivered to last week as well) but not my load number. Called up dispatch and requested to take it and was given the go ahead so fortunately I made a few miles today instead of being stuck in that gravel lot until tomorrow morning. Sitting in Rice Hill, OR tonight and perhaps will relay this off in Stockton and get something headed toward Dallas or deliver early on Tuesday.
Really starting to feel the Fall weather up here as it is quite brisk at night and the early mornings. I am really enjoying the western driving over the last three months or so. Besides a couple of loads in Ohio and down in GA I haven't crossed over the Mississippi headed east bound very much at all and that is the way I like it:)

A mini coup. Managed to finally get unloaded in Buena Park, CA after 5 hours or so. Got a preplan picking up just up the road in Industrial, CA going to Laramie, WY for a Friday morning delivery. That is a really nice run now just hoping I can get something from there back to Wilmer by Sunday night.

Called the customer up about overnight parking and she said yes. I saw some cars still there working so I checked to see if I could get loaded tonight instead of waiting for the morning shift and got an affirmative. They are busy on the job as I write. Don't have any hours to roll with tonight but at least I should be able to beat most of the traffic out in the morning. Even with the kind of ###### 4 out of 5 days mileage wise thus far I am still sitting just shy of 2000 miles and will be over 3000 by the time I get to Laramie for the 7 days so not too shabby after all.

No wonder I thought it has been ####tier than normal I have been out 6 days already instead of 5:) Well logging about 585 tomorrow or so that will but me at 2550ish or so for 7 days with hopefully another good 3 days following it up on my way to Texas.

Well managed to squeeze in another 133 miles tonight for a week of 3143 miles. Was able to get shed of my Wal-Mart load early in North Platte, NE and headed on down toward my p/u point tomorrow in Aurora, NE. Pretty long day as I got up early to unload in Laramie, WY and it took over two hours to get that knocked out. Then took the short cut down to Denver to pick up the WM load. Still got 620ish or so miles to go to official customer in Keller, TX and I only have 11.25 hours to work with tomorrow and I need to make it to Wilmer which is further. And I still have to roll another 15 miles or so to get loaded in the morning and fuel up down the road. Advanced logging skills 101 could get the job done but I will likely just pull up short of Wilmer and finish up on Sunday:)

Got the call from Poly again today to make sure everything was set for me showing up for orientation on Tuesday. I told them it was a go. He said there would be 5 of us in the class which is more than I expected but should be fun.

I'm really having a hard time choosing between Crete and Averitt. I need to make a decision soon because I would like to start with one or the other next week. I've got both waiting for a response. So many positives and negatives about both companies I can't decide. Can any of you help me? One of the worst things that scares me about Averitt is the low miles and sitting waiting on loads all the time. Can any of you sell me on one of these companies? Thanks

I can't say anything about Averitt as I have no experience there but the details contained within this thread should give you a fairly good idea of what you can expect at Crete. Even though I have flown away to what I hope is an overall better fit for me I can still recommend them pretty highly. I very rarely sat for long during my tenure there. There are certainly several things I would change if I was calling the shots but for the most part I was treated well, paid well and wasn't bothered that often. Best of luck in your choice.

majestyk. I read this entire thread this morning. Thank you for all the input. I think I've made my choice to go to Crete. I would be on the 12 on 2 off. Do they get you home when your supposed to be home? Would I get my 48 hrs home or would they be harassing me to go back out after my 34 was up? Thanks

The only thing that I think is accurate is that your pay will be reduced by 0.02 per mile when doing the 12d 2 d off routine. Perhaps that has changed but I do know that was the way it was when I checked about it. I never had anyone question me about the days at home I took and I usually took 4-5 days off after being out from 21-35 days or so. I was never called to go back out early, I just gave them the date I expected to be going back out and would check in on the morning I was to leave (I usually checked in the day before in order to try and get a preplan for the following day but this usually didn't pan out). They did a pretty good job of getting me home when I wanted to be there although I was generally fairly flexible on what day to arrive and if I was a few hours late or a day late I didn't sweat it much as long as I was running and making money.

You had to put in for your days off? I was told it was automatic every 12 then to the house. I guess you stayed out long periods then requested your home time depending on the days you had accumulated. Is this correct?

As all. I love my hometime but don't want to go broke because of it. Averitt tops out at 2200mpw starting me at .37cpm. I live in North Carolina and I have a filling 1800 is average with the slow freight right now. Also they have uniforms and shaving policy. Crete is much better at .39cpm probably 2500 mow average.
