I have noticed allot more APU's on Shaffer trucks the last few months, are they doing this company wide as they replace trucks? Or just on some fleets?
Have not looked at as many Crete ones to see if they are there as well.
Most of the Shaffers that I see are pulling Crete trailers anyway.

No, not you Chrome Dome....just sorting through the various post on this forum and am amazed at the lack of spelling skills. Merely an observation.

Ain't nothin' wrong with a Super!! I guess it's all a matter of taste, but I find the Supers easier to shift, especially when you're light-loaded. Shift it just like a five....Yeah, I'll jump gears. Ain't no worse than floating them. First, flip the switch, light touch on the clutch, she jumps to second, and you're gone. Repeat it four more times. It's not bad.... I used to drive a Century with a Super 10. Couldn't beat that old POS. She'd pull a house down.

the shaffer pulling crete and vice versa is a direct result of budweiser in fort collins. if you have paid attention, the shaffer trucks used to read new kingstown pa and they said shaffer trucking.

now they read shaffer trucking a division of crete carrier corp lincoln ne. a crete driver showed up in fort collins with a shaffer reefer and buttwipe refused to let him take the load as he was not in a shaffer tractor.

The biggest reason for all of the blue tractors pulling Crete trailers is the weight of the tractor. The Prostar is at least 1500 lbs. heavier than the old century, so they were too heavy for the refrigerated trailers. It was cutting down on the amount of freight that could be hauled per load. There are still some Shaffer drivers with Prostars, but most of them were switched to the Cascadias, and the blue trucks are assigned to Crete drivers like myself. They also have changed the sign on the door to reflect both companies, they say Crete Carrier Corp - Shaffer Trucking - Lincoln NE on most trucks assigned since January or so.
