My god, there's a correlation between relay operators becoming truck drivers. We're all so antisocial. I had all sorts of tricks for messing with those scammers. Transposing digits was my favorite "accident," which messed up their orders. I'd also take their email addresses, like, "[email protected]" or "[email protected]" "[email protected]" Haha, they always had two English first names composing a first name and then a surname. "Hello good day, am Smith Barney and please do you carry puppies instock QQ GA" Good day, am Peter Cole and I will like to buy dogs GAGA

It's ok. I don't make a big deal with it. I might squawk about it once pounding the table and then the storm passes. It's all good. If I did not hold back the thunder then Im the one who will be suicided or something stupid a long time ago LOL. Essentially my bark is worse than bite. I have not had to "Bite" a dispatcher in a very very long time.

The question of criminal record has only come up for me on two occasions
First was for my bonding hauling Her Majesty’s mail
My second was my Quebec explosives hauling permit
Common carriers it’s never even come upx1Heavy and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
I liked wasting their time and keeping them on hold for an hour or longer when they would call UPS to try and reroute a package. I would hang up if an agent answered and redial go back into the queue and just told the scammer I'm still holding. Then when it was my break time id just hang up and put them back into relay queue.
Prank calls were annoying too. A few of them were funny, but mostly I just got idiots. -
I did CSD. Hated the scam calls. Tried to warn. Against the rules. Some would actually argue with me. Couldn’t believe it.
The job could tear you apart. Saddest words I ever had to relay there were: No more dance momma...no more dance? Was barely able to get it out.
Was a time when I kept trying to work for idiots.
Go Ahead...moloko Thanks this. -
I'd get calls where some girl would be relay calling with her deaf boyfriend, and I had to type all background sounds. FYI I type 135WPM and I did transcribe every single thing. I recall rather vividly dropping a dime inadvertently on a cheating lover with my background sounds. (Sounds like talking to someone in background) then the deaf guy is like, operator what was that did I read that correctly? Of course I have to read verbatim so now I'm like reading to the cheating lady on the other end, "Operator? Did I read that correctly? You said she is talking to a male? No operator I am talking to you. I said I am talking to the operator. Do not say this operator I said I was talking directly to you." Then the woman is like, "Operator, did you type that I was talking to someone? no stop typing operator I was asking you directly, operator stop typing I said I was asking THE OPERATOR A QUESTION" (sounds annoyed). " CA here, is that a go ahead? "No operator I was talking directly to you I asked if you were typing all this? I hear typing? hello? operator did you tell him someone else was here? HELLO QQ "CA here please remember to use go ahead when finished talking and please direct all communication to the party you are calling."WesternPlains and x1Heavy Thank this.

YOU would be a perfect relay to me if I was calling.
My operators USUALLY type everything that comes into their ear. I know the difference between the person who is getting a intended call (Like a customer service) and background. Sometimes that background is a very valuable service.
One time I was on the phone relay with Ottawa TSA (Stock exchange equal to wall street) tracing estate oil rig shares with a broker by a unique number on them. During the call the relay operator typed rumbling sounds and profanity and the phone sounded like it was dropped with the rumbling going on. I told operator to wait. Ran to the living room computer googled earthquake map and turned out Ottawa was having or just had a 6.1 initial rated quake. Infromed the operator it was a earthquake in Ottawa while we were calling. So that settled her down.
After a few minutes no one returned (Evidently evacuation) so we thanked the patient operator and finished the call.
What's really interesting is this. I hold a unique relay number for over 10 years with that account and recieved from time to time a relay email stating I had a spam caller (That number is on the do not call list) So I inform them of that and it's taken care of on their end. There is nothing, and no one expected to call me with that number. Nothing at all. It's strictly outbound. That makes life a little easier.
All my people in my life know to text me. I have unlimited texting with my phone. The Relay is reserved for very important calls. On very long calls (3 hours for example) they rotate operators. I always give them sunshine and thank you. That makes them happy.
Sometimes I write poorly but as a relay operator you can tell I'm using a condensed form to convey a idea that will take many words in proper English.
