You do have a problem. If you tell them about it you are a threat/liability to them. If you don't and they do there job and do a back ground on you and find out about it. You will be fired for a false app. which will go on your DAC and you will never drive again.
A no contest is just saying that you do not dispute the facts. You might as well have plead guilty. It looks the same on you record. I would look for a new line of work where they don't care about such things.

I don't totally agree with Kabar...
Yup, you have to be up-front with employers about the conviction. He's right... if you aren't - the way trucking works - you will be fired for a false application, it will be on your DAC - something you won't be able to contest, and you'll never work in the industry.
However, if you are up front, explain the whole deal fully, you aren't necessarily unemployable. Its more difficult, and you'll have to work harder at it than everyone else. Also, once employed - you have to be perfect, work harder, don't complain and make sure your employer knows this. Sucks, but that's the way it is. -
i need to know exactly what happened; Who did you give the bomb threat to etc.
-
My point is this. You got some guy who you don't know from Adam. He says he has this charge for a bomb threat which he didn't do but plead no contest to.
Now if it was me I would think why did you plead no contest if you are so innocent and whats going to happen if you get angry at something I or my company dose?
Why should I risk my employees safety or that of the publics? -
You got that right, Kabar. Especially since we still live in a post-9/11 world, in the transportation industry more than possibly any other private industry in the country. To most people outside of the NYC area, 9/11 is sadly becoming a rapidly fading memory. For us, however, it is still very real, and has continuing affects on how our industry works. So a bomb threat, whether true or false, with a "no contest" plead, is gonna work very strongly against you. My suggestion would be to find another line of work. Sucks, I know. But no reputable carrier is gonna be comfortable putting you behind the wheel of what is essentially a 40-ton ballistic missile going down the road. And a disreputable carrier might put you in the position of being a danger to yourself and the general public, whether you want to or not. Seriously, find something else, or return to military service. The work is just as dangerous, or more so, and the retirement benefits are way better. -
Nobody gets a second chance in your world, eh?
Well... maybe if you're an ex-star NFL quarterback with a felony dog fighting problem. Then its okay.
Talk about hypocrisy in society. -
The only chance I'd give Micheal Vick is in the pit with the dogs he has destroyed. How such a sweet breed has been forced to deal with a##holes like this is beyond me. Pitbulls are the only breed I've ever seen who "smile" with joy when meeting new people.

I made a bad mistake and i havent had any law contact since 1995. i been honest with the DOD investigator who did my background check. i have deployed to iraq twice and i have a total of 16 years of service to my country.

I sincerely thank you for your service.

What's the point of a driver being behind the wheel of a ballistic missile?
